Sustainability overview
Our Sustainability & Environmental Policy
As a business rooted in nature, sustainability is not an initiative — it is our foundation.
We are committed to operating responsibly, minimising environmental impact, and continuously improving our practices in line with evolving environmental standards and sustainable construction principles.
Our goal is to create a positive environmental impact across our operations, supply chain, and communities.
Sustainability
We are committed to:
- Reducing our carbon footprint across all areas of the business
- Embedding circular economy principles into our operations
- Conserving water and energy
- Minimising waste and maximising reuse and recycling
- Sourcing responsibly and ethically
- Supporting biodiversity and local communities
- Continuously reviewing and improving our environmental performance
Circular Economy & Waste Management
We prioritise waste prevention, reuse and recycling wherever possible
- Planters and containers are reused or recycled
- Unwanted plants are donated to Chester Zoo, extending their lifecycle and community value
- Green waste, including plant trimmings and exterior compost, is supplied to a nearby farm for composting.
- Interior compost is recycled and reused in exterior tree planting projects.
- Cardboard waste is compacted and collected by a specialist paper recycling company.
- Packaging materials including plastic pots and cellophane are managed by a specialist waste contractor and converted into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), diverting waste from landfill.
- Paper use is minimised across our office through digital-first processes, with reuse and recycling encouraged where printing is necessary.
Our HYVERT modules and blades are manufactured using recycled batteries, reducing raw material consumption and supporting material innovation.
We continually assess opportunities to reduce material use, increase recycled content and eliminate unnecessary packaging.
Responsible Water Stewardship
Water is essential to plant health and central to our operations; we use it carefully and responsibly.
Rainwater harvesting systems are used to support irrigation.
Water recycling practices are implemented wherever feasible.
Irrigation systems are designed for efficiency to minimise waste.
We are committed to identifying innovative ways to reduce water consumption while maintaining plant vitality.
Energy Efficiency & Low-Carbon Operations
We aim to reduce operational energy demand and transition toward lower-carbon solutions.
Our office barn is heated using energy-efficient inverter technology.
Low-energy lighting systems are installed throughout our facilities.
Energy performance and efficiency are key considerations in all purchasing decisions.
We review operational energy usage regularly to identify further reduction opportunities.
As we grow, we will continue to assess renewable energy options and energy-efficient technologies to further reduce our carbon footprint.
Sustainable Transport & Urban Service Model
Transport emissions are a key focus area within our carbon reduction strategy.
Our vehicle fleet is under three years old, regularly serviced, and uses AdBlue technology to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.
In September 2022, we introduced our first Electric Vehicle (EV) and are committed to transitioning further toward electric alternatives as infrastructure and operations allow.
Fleet upgrades are aligned with emissions reduction objectives.
In June 2025, we launched our first Plant Aftercare Service Hub in Manchester. By positioning servicing teams closer to city-centre projects, we significantly reduce travel distances, fuel consumption, and associated carbon emissions.
Our long-term vision is to roll out this service hub model across other major cities in which we operate, creating a smarter, lower-carbon service network.
Responsible Sourcing & Partnerships
We understand that sustainability extends beyond our direct operations.
We aim to work with suppliers who share our environmental values and commitment to responsible practices.
Environmental performance is considered when selecting products, materials, and partners.
We support innovation in sustainable materials and modular systems.
Through collaboration, we seek to strengthen sustainability standards across our supply chain.
Biodiversity & Wellbeing
Plants and trees are powerful tools for environmental and social benefit.
Our installations support:
- Improved air quality
- Urban biodiversity
- Thermal regulation
- Acoustic buffering
- Enhanced occupant wellbeing
We actively promote the role of green infrastructure in sustainable building design and healthier urban environments.
People & Community
Sustainability is embedded within our culture.
All new team members are introduced to our environmental values and best practices.
Staff are encouraged to contribute ideas that improve environmental performance.
We support local initiatives and community causes wherever possible.
As mindful plant and tree ambassadors, we are passionate about raising awareness of the environmental and wellbeing benefits of greenery — both inside and outside the built environment.
Continuous Improvement
We recognise that sustainability is a journey. We are committed to:
- Monitoring and reviewing our environmental impact
- Setting measurable improvement objectives
- Adapting to evolving environmental regulations and best practice
- Driving innovation in green infrastructure
By integrating sustainability into every aspect of our business, we aim not only to reduce our environmental footprint but to create lasting, positive impact through nature-based solutions.
