Sustainability overview
Repair-Led Carbon Reduction
Sustainability at Repair Care is driven first and foremost by our core principle: repair rather than replace.
Our timber repair systems are designed to extend the service life of existing joinery, preventing unnecessary removal, disposal and replacement of timber components. By retaining original fabric, our solutions significantly reduce embodied carbon, material consumption and site waste compared to full replacement.
Repair Care has commissioned independent carbon footprint analysis comparing repair versus replacement scenarios. The findings demonstrate measurable carbon savings when timber elements are repaired, supporting lower-carbon project outcomes and whole-life performance strategies.
This approach aligns with circular economy principles, retrofit-first methodologies and conservation-led best practice across the UK built environment.
Climate & Energy Commitment
Repair Care operates in line with Bolton Group’s wider climate transition plan. A dedicated CO₂ project is currently reviewing operational processes to identify further emissions reduction opportunities and continuous environmental improvements.
We have transitioned our electricity supply to a renewable energy tariff as part of our ongoing energy management strategy.
Responsible Waste Management
Waste reduction and recycling systems are implemented across both office and warehouse environments, including segregated recycling and food waste management.
Our waste management partner, Briers, operates a Zero Waste to Landfill policy, supporting recycling, recovery and responsible disposal processes. This ensures that operational waste is managed in line with recognised environmental best practice.
Supporting Sustainable Specification
Beyond internal operations, Repair Care actively supports architects, surveyors and conservation professionals in delivering lower-carbon outcomes through:
- Retention of existing timber elements
- Reduction of construction waste
- Extension of asset life cycles
- Improved whole-life cost performance
Through technical guidance, specification support and CPD education, we promote sustainable repair strategies at design stage, embedding carbon-conscious decision-making within projects.
Our Position
Sustainability at Repair Care is both product-driven and operational. By prioritising repair-led carbon reduction, renewable energy adoption and responsible waste management, we remain committed to supporting a more sustainable and conservation-focused built environment.
