Project Overview

A large commercial premises in Corby required a comprehensive refurbishment of its existing metal gutter system, alongside restoration of the adjoining metal-clad roof areas. The existing gutters had deteriorated over time, leading to water ingress risk and ongoing maintenance concerns.

Following a detailed review of the site conditions, our technical team advised the contractor on the most appropriate waterproofing solution to deliver long-term performance while avoiding costly strip-out and replacement.

Technical assessment and specification support

Prior to works commencing, our technical team carried out a thorough evaluation of the existing metal substrate and gutter configuration. This included:

• Assessment of substrate condition and corrosion levels
• Identification of detailing challenges at outlets, joints and terminations
• Review of falls and ponding risk
• Compatibility assessment for overlay application

Based on these findings, RapidRoof Pro Gutter, our cold applied liquid PMMA waterproofing system, was specified as the most suitable solution. Its rapid cure profile and seamless, fully bonded application made it ideal for complex gutter detailing and minimising disruption on a live commercial site.

In addition, the wider metal roof areas were coated in Elasto-Kote Portland Grey, providing a protective and aesthetic refurbishment coating to extend the service life of the cladding system.

On-Site Technical Support

To ensure installation quality and compliance with the specification, we provided structured on-site technical support throughout the project, including:

• Pre-start site visit to confirm substrate preparation requirements
• Guidance on application methodology
• Wet film thickness checks and detailing verification
• Ongoing technical availability via phone and site attendance where required

Our technical team worked directly with the contractor to ensure correct reinforcement matting embedment, curing times and detailing were achieved in line with manufacturer guidelines.

This collaborative approach ensured the system was installed efficiently, correctly, and to the required performance standard for the appropriate guarantee.
