OVERVIEW
Woodscape are proud to be a part of Basingstoke’s War Memorial Park, with Clifton seats featuring prominently in the long-awaited Peace Garden, opened on 21st September 2018, the International Day of Peace, commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War.
The grand opening was attended by the Mayor, Cllr Seán Keating, MP Maria Miller and the Bishop of Basingstoke, the Right Reverend Canon David Williams, along with many representatives from the local community, including the Peace Garden Advisory Group whose work made it all possible. The area is home to a number of Peace Plaques designed by local schoolchildren, along with a sculpture of local surgery pioneer Sir Harold Gillies.
Woodscape supplied curved timber benches, with the Clifton Seating System providing a functional yet stylish framing for the main circular area, along with one of their popular hardwood cubes, custom etched to create a wonderful entrance marker for the garden.
As specialists in manufacturing street furniture using Naturally Very Durable Hardwood, a timber that lasts for decades, Woodscape were the ideal choice to assist the people of Basingstoke in creating a venue that will deliver to the community for many years to come.
