OVERVIEW

At The Bike Storage company, we specialise in creating custom, high-quality bike storage solutions tailored to our client’s needs. Our recent project at Chelsea Harbour is a prime example of how we deliver on our promise to provide secure, durable, and aesthetically pleasing bike storage facilities. This case study outlines the challenges faced, the solutions provided, and the outcomes achieved by installing high-security mesh partitioning and a perforated cycle store enclosure.

The Chelsea Harbour project required a robust and secure bike storage solution to serve the residents and commuters of a high-end residential area. The goal was to ensure the safety of the bicycles while maintaining an attractive and functional design that complements the surrounding architecture.

Project Scope: Installation of high-security mesh partitioning and a perforated cycle store enclosure

Challenges

  1. High-Security Requirements: The storage facility should prevent unauthorised access and ensure the safety of residents’ bicycles.
  2. Aesthetic Considerations: The design had to blend seamlessly with the luxury aesthetic of the Chelsea Harbour development.
  3. Space Efficiency: The solution needed to maximise the available space while accommodating many bicycles.
  4. Durability: The materials and construction methods had to withstand the elements and require minimal maintenance.

Solutions Provided

We installed two key components to meet these challenges: the High-Security Mesh Partitioning and the Cycle Store Perforated Enclosure. Both solutions were custom-designed and built to meet the specific needs of the Chelsea Harbour Project.

High-Security Mesh Partitioning

The high-security mesh partitioning was engineered to provide a robust barrier against unaurothised access, allowing visibility and airflow.

Key Features Included:

  • 80 x 3 SHS Uprights with Welded Base Plates: These structural supports were powder-coated in RAL 5008, offering a sleek, durable finish.
  • 656 Twin Wire Security Mesh: The partitioning was clad with twin wire mesh featuring a 200 x 50mm aperture, secured to posts using specialised security clips to prevent tampering.
  • Double Leaf Outward Opening Swing Gate: This gate, equipped with D handles and M16 hinges, was designed for easy access while maintaining high-security standards.

Cycle Store Perforated Enclosure

The cycle store enclosure was designed to provide secure and accessible storage for residents, emphasising functionality and style.

Key Features Include:

  • 80 x 3 SHS Uprights and 50 x 2.5 SHS Horizontal Bars: These structural elements provided the necessary support, finished in a powder-coated RAL 5008 to match the overall design.
  • 3mm Thick Aluminium Perforated Panels: The enclosure featured powder-coated panels with a cycle motif, which enhanced its aesthetic appeal while ensuring durability.
  • 38 Semi-Vertical Bike Racks: These racks, also powder-coated to match the structure, optimised the use of space while allowing for secure bicycle storage.

Our team ensured that the installation process was smooth and efficient, adhering to the following key considerations:

  • Site Preparation: Assumed level foundations and ensured clear access around all sides of the structure for installation.
  • Material Handling: Coordinated with the client to manage offloading and distribution of materials using site-issued pallet trucks.
  • Power and Waste Management: Ensured power supply availability and arranged on-site waste disposal, minimising disruption to the residents.

Outcome

The Chelsea Harbour bike storage project was completed on time and within budget, meeting all client specifications.

The Installation Provided:

  • Enhanced Security: The robust mesh partitioning and secure enclosure prevent unauthorised access, ensuring residents’ peace of mind.
  • Improved Aesthetics: The custom powder-coated finishes and cycle motif panels contributed to a visually appealing solution that complements the luxury surroundings.
  • Optimal Space Utilisation: The semi-vertical bike racks are well-planned layout maximised storage capacity without compromising accessibility.

Conclusion

The successful installation at Chelsea Harbour demonstrates our ability to deliver tailored bike storage solutions that meet the highest security, durability, and design standards. At The Bike Storage Company, we are committed to providing our clients with innovative solutions that enhance functionality and aesthetics.
