Old School Court

OVERVIEW

Project Overview

Located in the picturesque Staffordshire village of Wheaton Aston, Old School Court is a retirement living scheme offering a range of one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes. The village itself, awarded 'Best Kept Village 2024,' boasts a strong sense of community and a rich history, with Old School Court offering residents a serene, rural setting.

The Challenge

The existing doors at Old School Court were due to be replaced and upgraded in line with current fire safety legislation. Furthermore, the aesthetic of the old doors did not complement the beautiful, well-maintained nature of the surrounding building. Housing Plus Group needed a trusted partner who could not only supply high-quality, compliant doors but also deliver a solution that enhanced the overall living environment for their residents.

The DorSuite Solution

DorSuite partnered with Housing Plus Group to provide a comprehensive, tailored door package that addressed every aspect of their challenge. For the individual properties, we supplied 27 Flat Entrance Doors (FEDs) from our highly acclaimed Hall & Tawse Collaborative Range by DorSuite. These doors, featuring both the elegant Balmoral and classic Buckingham designs, were crafted to meet rigorous fire safety and security standards, offering both fire resistance and enhanced security.

For the communal areas, we supplied 18 doorsets with a beautiful Steamed Beech veneer. This choice brought a sense of warmth and natural elegance to the shared spaces, ensuring the new installations were not just functional but also visually appealing and durable for high-traffic areas. Our in-house manufacturing process ensured a perfect fit for every opening, guaranteeing a swift and seamless installation.

The Outcome

The installation of the doors at Old School Court has been an unqualified success. Housing Plus Group now has the peace of mind that its properties are equipped with the highest standards of fire safety and security, fully compliant, with residents expressing satisfaction with their new doors. The new doors have also significantly elevated the internal aesthetics of the retirement scheme, complementing the building’s well-kept nature and the picturesque village setting. This project perfectly illustrates how high-quality doors can be a critical element of resident safety and a positive contribution to the living environment.

The feedback from residents at Old School Court has been overwhelmingly positive.

Adam Pugh, Supported Housing Service Manager for South Staffordshire at Housing Plus Group, said: “Our residents are delighted with their new doors. They now complement the rest of the scheme and have made the properties quieter and more private”

Beyond the improved safety, residents have also reported a significant improvement in the acoustic performance of their homes. Previously, they could often hear conversations and noise from the communal hallways, which could be disruptive. With the new doors from DorSuite, this issue has been resolved, creating a quieter, more private, and more peaceful living environment. This added benefit has truly enhanced their day-to-day comfort and enjoyment of their homes.
