OVERVIEW
We recently visited Broadway Activity Park in the Cotswolds with Leo and Jess from Cool Access to explore the newly installed Changing Places toilet, developed as part of the park’s accessible facilities upgrade.
The park itself is a popular 3-acre community space, offering play zones for all ages and open green areas, right in the centre of Broadway village. With the addition of a fully equipped Changing Places toilet, families and visitors with complex needs can now enjoy everything the village has to offer with confidence.
After our visit, we stopped at No.32 Café on Broadway High Street for lunch—simple pleasures made possible by having the right facilities nearby.
Inside the Changing Places Facility
The Changing Places toilet is located at the rear of Broadway Activity Park, just a short walk from the High Street and the village’s main car parks. Its central location means it’s ideally placed for visitors spending the day in the park, exploring Broadway’s independent shops, or enjoying the surrounding Cotswolds.
The new facility is designed to meet all BS8300 and Document M standards for Changing Places, and has been fitted with specialist equipment from Astor Bannerman, including:
The layout ensures that wheelchair users and carers can move around easily, with enough turning space and access to all key equipment.
A Community Step Forward
The addition of this Changing Places toilet represents an important investment in accessibility for Broadway.
The park is a hub for both locals and tourists, and having a facility of this standard ensures that nobody is excluded from enjoying a day out in one of the Cotswolds’ most visited villages.
Leo highlighted how valuable the facility is:
“It’s brilliant to see a huge Changing Places here” – Leo
Making Broadway More Inclusive
Broadway Activity Park’s new Changing Places facility is more than just a toilet—it’s a commitment to inclusion.
By installing the right equipment and listening to the needs of disabled people and their carers, Broadway has taken an important step towards making its village centre accessible to everyone.
