OVERVIEW
Twinfix is proud of its involvement in the University of Exeter’s latest initiative to expand its Well-being Services. Situated at the top of Mardon Hill on Streatham Campus, the new facility aims to provide a serene atmosphere for students and staff, while also aligning with the university’s green initiatives. To support these goals, Twinfix deisgned, manufactured and installed 15 Brise Soleil units and a free-standing mono-pitch canopy. These features were essential in reducing solar gain, thereby lowering the reliance on air conditioning and improving the building’s overall energy efficiency. This contribution was crucial in helping the university achieve its Carbon Net Zero by 2030 target and secure a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for high environmental performance.
Collaborating closely with the architects and project managers, Twinfix ensured that the Brise Soleil system and canopy met all specifications. Both the Brise Soleil and the canopy are made from durable aluminium, powder coated to RAL 7016 – anthracite grey, ensuring a sleek and modern finish that complements the building’s design.
The canopy incorporates Twinfix’s Multi-Link-Panel roofing system, glazed with polycarbonate, which has been defined as non-fragile in accordance with the HSE’s drop test ACR[M]001:2019. This robust construction not only enhances the safety of the structure but also ensures long-lasting performance.
The sleek, modern design of both the Brise Soleil system and the canopy enhances the building’s visual appeal while providing practical benefits. The canopy offers an additional sheltered outdoor space, further contributing to the serene and inviting environment of the Well-being Centre.
Twinfix’s involvement in this project highlights our expertise in delivering solutions that meet complex design requirements while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability. The Well-being Centre’s successful integration of our Brise Soleil system and free-standing canopy exemplifies our commitment to innovation and excellence in architectural design and construction.
This project underscores our dedication to enhancing building aesthetics, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
