OVERVIEW

This project involved the installation of insurance‑certified roller shutters at a branch of Coventry Building Society, located within a traditional market‑town building. The challenge was to significantly enhance the physical security of the premises — protecting against burglary, vandalism or forced entry — while preserving the building’s traditional character and visual appeal. The shutter system needed to meet rigorous security standards without compromising the architectural integrity of the existing surroundings.

The solution was delivering a shutter system that combines full, third‑party security certification under LPCB / LPS 1175 Issue 7, with aesthetic flexibility to integrate inconspicuously with the building’s façade.

To meet these dual requirements, HAG supplied and installed insurance‑certified roller shutters, fully compliant with LPCB LPS 1175 Issue 7. • Fully tested and certified to LPS 1175 Issue 7, the recognised standard for forced-entry resistance of physical security products (doors, shutters, grilles, etc.).
• Certification covers the entire system: shutter curtain, guide rails, locking mechanisms, and substrate/fixings.

Shutter Curtain Construction

• Extruded aluminium, twin-skinned laths (typically 90 mm profile).
• Available in anodised finish or optional powder-coating to match the building’s aesthetic palette.
• Lightweight design with minimal set-back to maintain clean sightlines.

Guide Rails & Head‑Box

• Fabricated in galvanised steel for durability.
• Compatible with various substrates: concrete, blockwork, structural steel, or masonry.
• Slim profile and discreet head-box enable installation in heritage or visually sensitive contexts.

Self‑Locking Mechanism

• Built-in mechanism eliminates the need for padlocks or auxiliary locks.
• Any upward force on the shutter engages the locking extrusions with the side guides, preventing forced opening.
• Increased pressure strengthens the lock, enhancing security.

• Aluminium lath curtain, slim guide rails, and compact head-box ensure minimal visual impact.
