Hand Dryer Case Study (Education) - Whitestone Primary School

OVERVIEW

O V E R V I E W

Whitestone Primary School, an educational institution located in Swansea, has always been committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for both students and staff. As part of their ongoing efforts to improve hygiene and promote sustainability within the school, Whitestone decided to review their hand drying solution.

C H A L L E N G E

Prior to reviewing their hand drying solution, Whitestone Primary School had been using traditional hand dryers and paper towels. While these methods served their purpose, they presented several challenges: 1. Noise Disturbance: Traditional hand dryers were often loud and disruptive, particularly for younger students who were sensitive to noise. 2. Hygiene Concerns: Paper towels required constant restocking, and traditional hand dryers sometimes failed to dry hands effectively, leading to damp hands and the spread of germs. 3. Environmental Impact: The use of paper towels resulted in significant waste, requiring frequent disposal.

S O L U T I O N

Whitestone Primary School opted to install the Biobot 2 Hand Dryer to address these challenges. The Biobot 2 is specifically designed to be child-friendly, offering a quieter and more enjoyable hand-drying experience while also being energy efficient and hygienic. This decision aligned with the school’s goal to improve both hygiene standards and sustainability within the school environment.

  • Ultra-Quiet Operation: The Biobot 2 operates at a low noise level, making it non-disruptive and suitable for young children.
  • Child-Friendly Design: With its fun, engaging design, the Biobot 2 appeals to children, encouraging them to wash and dry their hands regularly.
  • Fast Drying: under 10 seconds.
  • Low Energy: uses just 200-800 W energy (ultra-low for a hand dryer).
  • Further Energy Saving: automatically adjusts the heater in the hand dryer, depending on the ambient temperature in the room. This means that during cold seasons, users have a comfortable hand drying experience, and in the warmer seasons, energy consumption can be reduced, therefore saving money.
  • Hygienic: Triple HEPA Grade 13 filter - removes 99.9% bacteria to ensure germ-free air, while using this hand dryer.
  • Long-lasting: brushless hand dryer motors are superior, with an increased lifespan, less maintenance required, and less energy usage.
  • Low Noise: as low as 65 dBA @ 1 metre
