OVERVIEW
Designed to reconnect the city with nature, Mayfield Park features elevated walkways, riverside paths, and modern safety features; crafted to feel open, green, and inviting. A key component? Jakob Webnet balustrades, which we supplied for the project back in 2021.
Subtle Strength
The Webnet mesh for this project consists of 1.5 mm wire ropes with 40 mm mesh width, creating a delicate yet robust and reliable barrier. Its transparency ensures clear visibility across the park, while the marine-grade 316 stainless-steel finish provides discreet, inconspicuous safety that blends seamlessly into the surroundings. It’s a true example of form following function.
Built for Britain’s Climate
Jakob Webnet is engineered to last. Fabricated from stainless steel, it resists rust, UV damage, and the worst (and best) of British weather. Though Manchester sees frequent rain and wind, the Webnet remains bright and taut; no sagging, tarnishing, or corrosion after nearly four years, as will be the case for many, many years to come.
Sustainable & Low Maintenance
With an unwavering commitment to sustainability and quality, MMA Architectural Systems is the sole UK agent for Jakob steel rope systems.
Webnet is made from 100% recyclable stainless steel, supports lightweight designs that reduce material use, and require virtually no maintenance. It’s the perfect match for Mayfield Park’s eco-focus, providing minimal waste, maximum lifespan.
Precision Craftsmanship for Public Spaces
Webnet is custom-fabricated to fit each railing and walkway. Much like MMA’s “Inviss” frames, the custom fabricated frames in Mayfield Park hide all the wiring within the frame for a clean finish; the system is certified for public and heritage spaces, making it ideal for high-traffic urban environments.
Even now, the Webnet balustrades at Mayfield Park with its sleek stainless finish remains as reliable and refined as the day they were installed. It continues to ensure visitor safety while preserving the park’s open, green aesthetic.
