Striking, Hard-wearing Entrance Matting for Leeds Casino

Chapman Taylor Architects designed a new-look refurbishment at Napoleons Casino Leeds. The brief was to capture the 'timeless allure of classic design with modern luxury and detailing, delivering a sophisticated and opulent experience for patrons.'

That means herringbone hardwood floors, bronze detailing, textured wall panels and sumptuous fabrics. After spotting a visual of herringbone Entrance Matting using INTRAshape, they knew it was perfect for them. After getting some samples, they chose warm, natural tones using the Elite Brown 605 fibres, and the bronze anodised finish to echo the overall luxurious design scheme.

Tough and Sophisticated

The casino, bar and restaurant entrance is well protected from rain and dirt but narrow. So, the Entrance Matting needs to cope with a medium traffic flow in a concentrated area around the reception desk, wheelchair lift, and service doors. The entrance acts as an extended draught lobby, with double doors leading into the main space, so Chapman Taylor wanted a functional and visually impressive entrance which teases to what's beyond.

The INTRAshape Medium Slim Diamond tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern direct customers into the main space and introduces the parquet flooring, textures and patterns beyond. The Elite Brown fibres match the hardwood floor and complement the wider design palette of warm, neutral tones. And the bronze finish adds that touch of sophistication and opulence.

Beauty and Brawn

Chapman Taylor chose INTRAshape and Elite fibres because they look great, but they got a bonus because they perform beautifully too. We pile each tile full of highly absorbent fibres with an added scraping function to make sure dirt and moisture doesn't get trampled around the building. Made from Econyl® recycled nylon fibres, they meet sustainability commitments like so many of our Entrance Matting products.

Each INTRAshape tile has a recycled aluminium frame which prevents fibre compression, making them hard-wearing and ideal for multi-directional traffic. This means they look and perform better for longer too - fewer worn or flattened patches that look scruffy or dirty and don't absorb moisture anymore. We provide a ten-year warranty, but with a good cleaning and maintenance regime, we expect them to last longer.

Find Your Fit

Despite appearances, INTRAshape is easy to install too. The tessellating-shaped tiles abut neatly against each other and we manufacture each shape (there are twelve to choose from) to work with one another. Available in 22 fibre shades and types, plus silver, black and bronze anodised aluminium, there are myriad creative possibilities.
