OVERVIEW
The former Costa Coffee Roastery on Old Paradise Street in Lambeth, Central London, has been transformed into one of the lowest carbon office developments in the UK by Bywater Properties.
The use of mass timber for the structure means the building’s overall embodied carbon emissions are 35% lower than the RIBA 2030 target, coupled with a durable and beautiful ceramic exterior it means that Old Paradise Street is a truly exceptional building.
Working with Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and our manufacturing partners Soladrihlo and Ceipo Ceramiche, we were able to develop a truly bespoke set of products for this scheme. A number of bespoke ceramic profiles in a bespoke green glaze were coupled with terracotta blocks that were designed by engaging with local school children with the assistance of Matt & Fiona.
The design was then transformed into reality with Gilbert Ash as main contractor and FIS as specialist cladding installer.
