OVERVIEW
Nestled within Wentworth Woodhouse, the Camellia House stands as an emblem of architectural grandeur, designed in the early 19th century by Charles Watson-Wentworth, the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham. Its purpose was to cultivate exotic camellia plants from distant lands, symbolic of opulence and refinement. However, the passage of time left this historical marvel in disrepair.
Thanks to a £5 million investment from the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, supported by Lottery funding, the Camellia House witnessed a renaissance, reclaiming its splendour.
