Staffordshire Alliance

OVERVIEW

Back in 2016; in order to alleviate intercity, commuter and freight traffic, AtkinsLaing O’RoukeNetwork Rail and VolkerRail joined forces to complete the £250million Staffordshire Area Improvement Programme (SAIP).

As one of the last remaining bottlenecks on the West Coast Line, this programme was set to improve the flyover at Norton Bridge, implementing smoother and more reliable journeys for passengers on one of Europe’s busiest railway line.

The Brief

With the introduction of the Staffordshire Area Improvements Programme, the client had a number of specific requirements that CLD Fencing Systems needed to comply with for their fencing and gate solutions:

  • High level of security
  • Deter potential trespassers from accessing the tracks
  • Easy access points for workers, that also held the same level of security as the fence line
  • Match the environmental characteristics of the project.
