OVERVIEW
The new-build development at Emmanuel Community School in Walthamstow set out to create a modern, high-performing educational environment — and achieved industry-wide recognition for doing so. The project was named Winner of the 2025 Contract Flooring Journal (CFJ) Award for Best Use of Flooring in Education, celebrating both the quality of the Supacord specification and the excellence of its installation.
Led by main contractor Kier Construction, the project required a robust, low-maintenance flooring solution suitable for high-traffic, multi-use school spaces. Supacord carpet tiles were installed throughout the two-storey building, including classrooms, corridors, and staircases, with Battleship entrance matting added at key access points to enhance durability and cleanliness.

Installation and Delivery
Installation was completed by Westcotes Flooring, a specialist contractor with extensive experience in education and public-sector projects.
Prior to installation, extensive subfloor preparation was required due to laitance and contamination left by other trades. Westcotes conducted full mechanical preparation to ensure a clean, level, and stable substrate—critical for long-term performance and adhesion.
