OVERVIEW
For this project in West Byfleet, Configured Platforms delivered a Series 3 non-penetrating deck system together with a fully enclosed, weatherproof plant room. The plant room was specifically designed to house the hot water pumping system, buffer vessels, and other sensitive equipment, providing robust protection from the elements and ensuring long-term durability and reliability. To the external plant enclosure our Series 3 deck was complemented by Peaceflow300 screens, which deliver both visual and acoustic attenuation of the HVAC equipment while maintaining optimal airflow. By adopting a non-penetrating system, the solution avoided any impact on the existing roof structure, providing a safe and secure platform with minimal disruption.
Installation
The installation was remarkably quick and efficient thanks to the pre-engineered, modular design of the system. No crane was needed other than to lift the kit-form packs onto the roof, making the process far safer and less labour-intensive than traditional steel systems, which typically require craning in each individual component. There is almost zero waste onsite, this approach not only reduced time on site but also minimised the risk of roof leaks by avoiding any penetrations into the finished roof surface.
Design
The plantroom featured our Flatscreen roof and a checker plate floor, creating a robust enclosure to shield sensitive equipment. Our Series 3 deck, constructed from lightweight yet durable aluminium, supported the installation of additional HVAC equipment while keeping overall roof loadings to a minimum. To enhance performance and appearance, the equipment was enclosed with our Peaceflow300 acoustic louvre screen system, which reduces noise levels, provides a clean visual finish, and maintains the necessary airflow for efficient operation.
Client testimonial
“Great work guys, these are a real game changer in terms of design and installation. The product works well and looks good too!”

“We have benefited significantly in using Configured Platform’s selfweighted plant enclosures on West Byfleet. In particular, having a single point of responsibility for the design and manufacture of the plant enclosures. With traditional systems, you need to have finalised plantroom layouts when you are constructing your RC frame to design in RC plinths and/or upstands to install the primary steel structure. By constructing the plant enclosures on top of the finished roof, there is more time to finalise your mechanical and electrical services design. We also found the team at Configured Platforms extremely helpful – I hope to work with them again in the future.”
