Application

Degafloor's flake resin flooring suits various commercial and industrial sectors, including Retail, Leisure, Sports Stadia, Education and other public venues.

A basic guide to resin flooring

Resin flooring is a hardwearing plastic surface, created by mixing a selection of ingredients to initiate a fast and controlled chemical reaction.  The chemical reaction creates a highly durable finish, ideal for the heaviest-use environments.

The simplest form of resin flooring, a resin coating consist of:

  • Formulated synthetic resin
  • Separate hardener

As demand intensifies– typically resulting in an increase in resin floor thickness – the range of ingredients grows to include aggregates, pigments, decorative chips/flakes and in some cases, cement powder.

Step 1 – Primer

Most resin floors utilise a primer that penetrates into / reacts with the substrate to create a high-strength and reliable bond essential to the floor's longevity.

Step 2 – Bodycoat

The primer is typically followed by a main structural layer, often referred to as the body coat, which creates the bulk of the floor thickness and provides many of the key performance elements such as impact resistance, flexibility and compressive strength, as well as defining the decorative finish of the floor.

Step 3 – Seal coat

Most resin flooring will be finished with 1 to 3 seal coats to encapsulate the body coat and decorative element of the floor and provide the final performance characteristics, such as chemical and wear resistance.

Description

Stylish and built to last

The Degafloor Flake resin flooring System is a decorative resin surface flooring that combines the durability and ultra-fast cure time of MMA resin with decorative flakes for an outstanding, clean finish. It remains incredibly hygienic over extended periods and is quick and easy to maintain, producing a seamless finish without joints or grout lines.

Adaptable to any environment

This decorative surface resin flooring finish is available in a wide selection of standard options. We can also match it to your existing flooring, including vinyl, terrazzo, and ceramic tiles. It is offered in both smooth and textured slip-resistant resin finishes and has an exceptional bond to a wide range of substrates, along with outstanding resistance to UV light, chemical substances, and environmental weathering. Finally, our MMA resin Flake System fully cures at temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees. This resin flooring is ideal for commercial and industrial premises.

Suitable for high-impact, indoor areas

The Flake System is an ideal hygienic flooring choice for all commercial and industrial premises, including hospital wards, corridors, laboratories, and surgical areas. It is hard-wearing and designed for high foot traffic so is a good fit for school classrooms. Combined with the strong chemical bond to the substrate, liquids cannot penetrate the system, allowing the floor to be easily cleaned and maintained. Quick-curing underlay screeds and floors that can cure fully within just two hours of installation means that businesses typically face minimal disruption when using the Degafloor Flake System.
