Description

d² Quickspan Beam (Patent No. GB 2005553.9) is part of the world’s lowest carbon balcony decking components, designed to deliver performance and sustainability together. It combines with Dura Bearer, creating a single integrated ‘Quickspan’ system that spans further, installs faster and reduces component count.

Engineered to span up to 6.0 m and support 3.0 kN point loads with just 0.5% deflection, d² Quickspan Beam reduces beams and support points for cleaner layouts, faster progress and fewer interfaces with existing structures.

Built-in functionality eliminates separate supports, holders and slope correctors. Integrated height and fall adjustability enables:

  • Straightforward Finished Floor Level (FFL) alignment.
  • Creation of 1:80 drainage falls.
  • Adaptation to gradients of up to 10°.

Purpose-built for balcony remediation, d² Quickspan Beam replaces combustible timber joists with a non-combustible, maintenance-free substructure manufactured from 6063 grade aluminium (T6). It aligns with post-Grenfell fire safety expectations, suits steel or concrete balcony frames, and avoids the long-term issues of timber movement, decay and fire risk.

G-Bracket frame interface:

Bespoke stainless steel G‑Bracket provides a precision‑engineered connection interface, enabling direct load‑transfer and alignment between the Quickspan Beam and the supporting balcony steel frame through a rigid, tolerant‑controlled bolted fixing arrangement.

Intelligently carbon engineered:

Made in the UK using 68% recycled aluminium, fully recyclable at end of life and engineered to reduce material use, transport and embodied carbon across projects.

Designed to retrofit, without compromise:

Designed for balcony remediation and timber replacement, d² Quickspan Beams install without hot works and fits into existing 100–200 mm Parallel Flange Channels (PFC).

Works seamlessly with d² Quickspan decking and balustrading for a coordinated balcony solution that simplifies design, speeds installation and reduces risk.
