Accoya used in the construction of new five star Indian hotel

Accoya to clad the external façade and construct individual poolside gazebos and walkways used by hotel guests.
Exposed to high coastal humidity all year round and an annual average rainfall of over 2000 mm during the four month monsoon season, the hotel chose Accoya for its stability and natural appearance.
Accoya delivers outstanding levels of performance, including dimensional stability, class 1 durability and sustainability. Distributors RitikaaWood used 25 m3 of 16 x 150 mm Accoya boards to clad the hotel’s façades as well as the area surrounding its swimming pool, which the distributors also designed, manufactured and installed.
Accoya used internally for a feature wall

The Garden State Hotel is an iconic building in Melbourne. Accoya was chosen for a feature wall in the balcony dining room – a VIP space that looks out over the rest of the venue.
Charred Accoya was used for the feature wall to add to the secluded and private feeling of the venue. The Accoya cladding was lined with a polyurethane finish. Other sections of the feature wall were finished with Woca internal maintenance oil.
Accoya was also chosen due to its incredible finish and its ability to adapt to the unique and fresh looks offered by modern architecture.
Accoya velodrome in the running for fastest world record

Accoya was handpicked as the ideal wood for the project as, due to the acetylation process, it will not splinter. This is a critical requirement for the project. Further evidence of this is also suggested due to the SDA designed Velodrome in Tbilisi, Georgia which uses Accoya wood.
Prior to the new Accoya track the architects used Larch wood. However, because of the humidity in the arena the wood shrank. Now that the track has been replaced with Accoya we’re watching this space for new world records to be set.
Accoya vertical cladding for the Tintra footbridge, Norway

Accoya was chosen as the ideal material for the vertical cladding on a footbridge in Vossenvangen, Norway.
Maintenance was an integral issue during the pre-planning & construction. Combining strength, durability and minimal maintenance over the years, Accoya wood was the natural choice for Rintala Eggertsson Architects.
Constructed by IKM Steel & Facade, the project also won the Architizer A+ Award in the Transportation and Infrastructure category. Two other category winning projects included; The Royal Arena, Denmark (Jury Winner in the Sport and Recreation category) and City Hall Venlo, Netherlands (Jury and Popular Choice Winner in the Institutional-Government & Municipal Buildings category).
Accoya was chosen for numerous features throughout this stunning Casa da Mata beach house

Accoya was used for all the superior decking and facades throughout the ‘Jungle House’ on Guarujá Beach. It was also used for some of the interior paneling & room furniture as well as for unique MUXARABI joineries. This is a special type of joinery used by architects to enhance the aestetic design of a project as the joinery acts as a light filter providing varying projections of light throughout the day.
Accoya was also chosen due to its incredible durability to withstand Brazil’s intense heat and humidity.
Accoya weatherboards selected for a private residence in New Zealand

Designed by Trevor Wilson (Architecture 37 o) & constructed by Harbour City Builders, Accoya was chosen for the cladding of this Orewa beachfront home. The Accoya profiles were created using a custom rusticated board with a bandsawn face, before being painted and finished using Resene Ironsand which provided the overall dark matt effect.
The bandsawn face shows off the bespoke natural wood grain of the Accoya wood, giving it a warm texture in comparison to the concrete. Because of Accoya’s improved stability, coatings such as this can last up to two times longer in comparison to other hardwoods.

Atlas Wood, joinery manufacturer from Greece supplied 92 windows and doors to complete this project. Fitted by Reinhard Adling Accoya was chosen for this project because of its stability and durability properties over other woods.

38 Accoya fixed & opening windows were installed, & 22 glazed door leafs. They will require little maintenance over their lifetime due to the process in which the wood is made.

Breakers Beach Bar & Restaurant, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The construction of an upmarket beach bar and restaurant, Breakers Beach House, part of the Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin. Set amongst the dunes and facing the North Sea, the building was designed to be sympathetic to the environment but required the use of materials that could withstand the elements without requiring frequent maintenance.
Accoya Wood was used for windows, doors, cladding, railings, trusses, mullions and planters.

Accoya wood used for decking for private residence in southern Italy

Supplied by Kobel, in Italy Accoya was specified for the decking. The decking was wire brushed for a textured distressed looking finish and then laid around the swimming pool in the grounds of the residence.
The client is pleased with the quality and overall finish of the decking and has the peace of mind that Accoya will be dimensionally stable, has outstanding durability and the added benefit of a guarantee of 50 years.
Accoya wood used to create inspirational “fingers” sculpture

Artist Ruurd Hollema designed an iconic piece of art for a roundabout on Reggesingel Street, Rijssen, The Netherlands. At 8.5 metres high and 11 metres in width this inspirational design is called “Fingers” due to the large interlocking timber beams. The structure is manufactured using 20m3 of Accoya wood in dimensions of 38mm x 150mm glue-laminated together. The customer, joiner and contractor De Groot Vroomshoop Gelijmde Houtconstructies b.v. constructed and built the eye catching structure with no coating except for an end sealer. The large glue laminated beams measure 0.18m x 6m x 11m.

Accoya has been selected for the façade of the building and has been designed to recreate Louis Vuitton’s famous quatrefoil branding which adorns many of the company’s luxury products.
The façade also had to meet the high standard of quality associated with the brand and be delivered to the highest levels of aesthetic finish.

WMOR Architects completely redesigned the ground floor to include a flexible living area to open into the garden. Accoya was chosen as the ideal material for the extension because of it aesthetic appearance as well as its ability to provide better insulation than other materials. & the owners wanted to use the most sustainable material they could.
The Accoya extension which houses the show piece kitchen will be left to weather naturally and match the pale grey flooring. This was specifically designed so that in the summer, when the sliding door completely opens, the interior & exterior space will merge seamlessly.
Charred Accoya selected for private residence in Bellport, New York

reSAWN used Accoya because of its extreme durability, exterior weathering capabilities, FSC® certification, exterior warranty, & the hardness of Accoya.
Charred using the ancient Japanese technique of shou sugi ban, MATSU is finished without brushing off the soft charcoal layer. This layer is a sacrificial wear layer that will flake slowly (as is expected for any natural building product) over time to reveal a blackened effect underneath with variations in colour, grey to brown tones – perfect for this heavily wooden landscape.
Dutch school selects Accoya cladding

Accoya was specified by Hofland Architectenbureau for the cladding, windows and doors for this primary school located in Barneveld, Netherlands. Supplied by Boogaerdt Hout, an Accoya distributor the 38 x 45 mm Accoya cladding was selected because of its class 1 durability, stability and sustainability properties. Windows and doors were manufactured by VIOS van den Hondel, Driebruggen and the contractor was Van Driesten Bouw.
First fully inspired Cradle to Cradle development in the Netherlands

First fully inspired Cradle to Cradle development in the Netherlands uses Accoya Cladding.
The Bosch Siemens HOME (B/S/H) office, called The Inspiration House, is the first building designed for Park 20|20 (the first Cradle to Cradle-inspired full-service development in the Netherlands). The Inspiration House 20|20 was designed by architect William McDonough with Michael Braungart, the founder of the cradle-to-cradle movement. Accoya wood was chosen for the external cladding and windows because it is the only wood product that has achieved the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Gold Certification.
House in Sweden

Accoya wood has been used to create cladding, windows, doors, decking and guttering in family home in Sweden. Over 20 m3 of Accoya was ordered for the project and was used to create cladding, windows, external doors, decking and even the guttering.
The joinery firm and construction company were very impressed with the performance of Accoya on this project. The build time was faster than expected with other wood species, it was easy to use and work with and it allowed to use wider planks of Accoya for the cladding.

Mežaparka birojs chooses Accoya wood façade for its spectacular work space in Riga, Latvia

Mežaparka birojs, located at Kelnes iela 1 in Riga, was built on the principles of sustainable construction by Citrus Solutions. The building has a Class A energy performance certificate.
Minnesota State Capitol selects Accoya windows

A major part of the project was restoring the building’s original wood windows, which had been covered over with aluminum windows 30 years ago. The aging units—242 in total—had suffered from fogging, failing glass, air leakage, & broken balances that rendered them inoperable. Window manufacturer Re-View, were selected to restore the windows.
Re-View restored the windows using restoration epoxies and replicated Accoya wood parts. Re-view chose Accoya due to its durability and 50 year guarantee.
As forecasted at the start of construction in 2013, the work will be completed in June 2017.
Please Be Seated Accoya public artwork

The second phase with sustainable timberPlease Be Seated is a uniquely designed public artwork by London based designers, Paul Cocksedge Studio. The design allows locals and passers-by to stop and watch the world go by whether sat or even lying down. The structure was designed with locations in mind, not wanting to obstruct the busy shopping centres or detract from the surrounding architecture.The artwork was first designed and placed in London using reclaimed scaffolding boards. The second Chinese version of the artwork, however, used Accoya Wood. The structure was fabricated in partnership with UAP and the Accoya was sourced and supplied by local Accoya approved distributor, Jiangsu Dragon Wood (JDW). Paul Cocksedge Studio worked with JDW to complete and install, managing the entire process remotely as a result of Covid restrictions.The artwork is made from 1,440 planks of sustainably sourced, high-performance Accoya timber. A key benefit of Accoya that made it the material of choice is the Cradle to Cradle Gold Certification. This recognises that Accoya is fully circular, with no added synthetic materials, fully recyclable and non-toxic. The Accoya planks are supported by a framework of bent steel designed to be easily assembled and disassembled for travelling.Please Be Seated made its debut in China in 2020, in partnership with Swire Properties. The installation was relocated across numerous locations in China, starting at the Temple Plaza of Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li in Chengdu, before travelling to Guangzhou, Shanghai, and finally Beijing in 2021 where the public artwork is permanently residing.
Prestigious renovation project of German embassy in Washington DC

The German Embassy is a prestigious property combining the main colonial-style Embassy building & a semi-detached house. Both designed in the 1960s by prominent German architect Egon Eiermann.
The Embassy suffered from asbestos contamination. As a result, the German Embassy had to be completely renovated in order to meet modern-day health & safety standards – a challenging task for the architects having to balance the rigorous constraints of US building regulations with the need to respect & adapt Eiermann’s original design.
The team of architects have chosen to use Accoya windows as part of the overall renovation project.
Red beach house

Accoya weatherboards have been realised on a private residence designed by Architecture 37 Limited, at Red Beach, Auckland, NZ.
Accoya was chosen for its durability and stability benefits which are required for coastal settings.
Profiled to Bevel Back profile with 158mm cover, the Accoya was band sawn face finish and painted with a colour called Bokara Grey (LRV 8).
The coastal tradition of the Accoya weatherboards is observed with stone anchor points at entry and chimneys either end. A living wall softens the road facade, while louvered elements filter sun and privacy.
Romanian home made entirely from Accoya

Accoya was recommended by distributor Tecade for use in the construction of the building.
Tecade recommended the use of Accoya to ensure that the building would sit well in its natural surroundings, while also maintaining its structural integrity in the harsh environment.
Accoya was used for all applications throughout the home including the façade, interior doors, indoor & outdoor furniture, terrace, garage door & railings. The architect specified 28mm X 150mm of Accoya for the outdoor terrace & constructed the terrace furniture using around 1 cubic meters of Accoya to build 3 tables & 36 chairs for external use.
Shou-Sugi-Ban charred Accoya chosen for Mistral Restaurant

Manufactured by reSAWN Timber, Accoya siding was selected as the ideal material for the Mistral restaurant at the King of Prussia mall in Philadelphia.
Accoya was chosen for the project by Eimer Design due to its durability, FSC® certification, and extended product life cycle.
Additionally, Accoya proved a great visual choice as the the shou-sugi-ban exterior siding creates an eye-catching impact thanks to the way it stands out from the rest of the mall’s neutral coloured façade.

Tepid baths, Auckland, New Zealand chose Accoya wood

In April 2010 the Tepid Baths closed for repairs and a major makeover. As part of this renovation project Accoya® wood was chosen for its durability and stability especially for its use in wet and humid environments such as swimming pools. New Zealand distributor, Timspec supplied the Accoya wood which was used for the changing room doors, seats and frames.
At nearly 100 years old, the building will remain a great place to swim for the next 50 years.
The Haven, UK selects Accoya cladding and decking

The extensive use of wood cladding & decking were key elements of LSI architects’ design. However, given that ‘The Haven’ is in a flood zone, surrounded on three sides by water & constantly exposed to a high moisture content in the air, LSI needed to find a wood that they could be confident would deliver durability, dimensional stability & aesthetics.
The glue laminated Accoya wood for the curved rear screen was manufactured by Newnham & Abel Ltd & hand finished with a protective merbau-coloured coating from WoodGuard by Guard Industrie. The same finish was factory applied to the cladding.
Van Leeuwen Kozijnen Office, Netherlands

Van Leeuwen kozijnen had an easy decision to make when choosing the ideal material for their new office building, due to such positive past experience with Accoya. As well as the Accoya frames & doors that were produced in their own joinery workshop, 30 mm thick panels were also made to fill the space between the frames throughout this project.
Accoya boards were selected for all the cladding. The cladding was then fixed with an invisible clip system. Thanks to Accoya’s superior dimensional stability, the cladding in the building will stay straight & aligned.
