Perched atop an exposed ridge in The Chilterns, Kate and [husband’s name] Fischer’s home, a former Gamekeeper’s Lodge, has been given a new lease of life with an oak frame extension and Schüco glazing systems.

Norton Folgate is an eclectic mixed-use development on Blossom Street, located near the iconic Spitalfields Market and Liverpool Street Station in London. The £180 million project involved extensive refurbishment of ten existing buildings, as well as eight new builds across six plots. The Old School House at the historic Francis Holland School in Sloane Square, London, has undergone an extensive renovation which includes the addition of glazed steel-framed screens and Schüco Jansen steel fire doors throughout the building.As part of a transformation that has brought the building into the modern era without sacrificing history or style, the new steel screening and fire doors increase the vital element of safety in the space.Photo credit: Forcia

The Parcels Building is an ambitious retrofit scheme located in a prime location next to Selfridges on Oxford Street, London. Its innovative façade design and skilled execution secured the top prize, Overall Winner, at the Schüco Excellence Awards 2024.The new façade is constructed with Schüco FWS 50 curtain walling which sits behind handset Portland stone and pre-cast concrete elements. This gives the overall effect of windows from the outside of the building while providing the airtightness and thermal efficiency that comes with continuous curtain walling. The new building envelope lets in much more natural light than the original façade while also greatly improving its energy efficiency. The U-value of the old façade was estimated to be 5 W/m²K while the new façade achieves 0.3 W/m²K for the walls and 1.4 W/m²K for the vision glazing, delivering substantial energy savings and improving occupant comfort.Photo credit: Nick Kane

Designed by Níall McLaughlin Architects and carried out by Alucraft Systems, the Master’s Field Development for Balliol College, University of Oxford, comprises 225 furnished ensuite study bedrooms arranged across eight new buildings and supported by ancillary facilities, as well as a new sports pavilion. The buildings frame and animate outdoor gathering spaces, while privacy in the bedrooms is maintained via deeply recessed window bays. The bedrooms themselves are organised in clusters around social spaces that are accessed through glazed stairways linked to generously shared kitchens and common rooms.Watch the video case study below to find out more about the project.

The extension and refurbishment of the Fulham Centre in South West London re-configured the existing retail and commercial building using both aluminium and steel Schüco systems. The original building was partially redeveloped by the addition of a double-height glazed entrance lobby, a five-storey extension to the rear, new ground-level glazing, and a refurbishment of the existing façades.Photo credits: Tony MacLean

In early 2022, the completion of the Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM) fulfilled Oxford University’s desire to spark scientific collaboration by bringing its neurology, immunology and cardiology departments under one roof.Designed by SRA Architects using Passivhaus principles as stipulated by the university, the IDRM was built to meet the sustainability, accessibility and security standards of a world-class academic research facility.Our Schüco Super Insulated (SI) range was specified for this project. Schüco windows, doors and curtain walling systems were chosen as to meet the strict energy efficiency requirements of the design.

The complete ground floor of Bruntwood Works' 111 Piccadilly, an iconic 1960’s office building in the heart of Manchester, was redesigned to provide high quality meeting, co-working, communal lounge and café facilities. The building’s entrance and façade were re-imagined, including the incorporation of ‘The Gem’ at the main entrance.

This Grade II listed barn in North Yorkshire has undergone an incredible transformation using Schüco aluminium systems to extend and modernise the property while paying homage to its agricultural heritage.
