Application

The TopClip flexible, multi-height flooring transition profile system is designed for use at junctions between adjacent floor finishes of differing types and thicknesses, where a safe, durable and visually coherent transition is required.

The system is suitable for installation in both new-build and refurbishment projects and is intended for use within interior environments where consistent detailing, performance under foot traffic, and long-term adaptability are key design considerations.

TopClip profiles may be used to form transitions between, but not limited to, resilient floorcoverings, carpet and carpet tile, timber and engineered timber flooring, laminate, vinyl, and other commonly specified interior floor finishes. The modular nature of the system allows a single transition solution to be specified across projects incorporating multiple floor types, simplifying detailing and reducing specification complexity.

Typical applications

  • Transitions between floor finishes of different thicknesses within the same plane
  • Junctions between hard and soft floor finishes, including carpet to resilient, timber to vinyl, or similar combinations
  • Curved or non-linear transitions around columns, feature walls, reception desks, and architectural elements
  • Thresholds within circulation routes, corridors, and open-plan spaces
  • Interfaces between rooms with differing floor finishes in residential, commercial, and public buildings

Building types and environments

The TopClip system is suitable for use in a wide range of interior environments, including:

  • Commercial offices and mixed-use developments
  • Education buildings, including schools, colleges, and universities
  • Healthcare environments, subject to project-specific hygiene and performance requirements
  • Residential developments, including multi-residential and high-end private housing
  • Hospitality and leisure environments, including hotels, restaurants, and public foyers
  • Retail environments and public buildings with moderate to high foot traffic

Its independently tested slip performance makes the system particularly appropriate for areas where underfoot safety is a priority.

Performance and design considerations

The system supports inclusive design by providing a flush, self-levelling transition that reduces the risk of trip hazards and accommodates minor variations in subfloor levels. The ability to curve profiles on site allows designers to maintain continuity of finish and detailing in spaces where straight-line transitions are not appropriate or desired.

Interchangeable tops and bases allow the system to be adapted to suit varying floor build-ups both within a single project and across multiple projects, enabling standardisation of specification while retaining design flexibility.

The availability of 24 colour options allows transitions to be coordinated with adjacent finishes or used as a deliberate visual break, depending on the design intent.

Description

Flexible, multi-height flooring transition profile system designed to resolve junctions between adjacent floor finishes of differing thicknesses in commercial, residential, and public interior environments. The system combines aesthetic refinement with technical performance, providing a durable, safe and visually continuous transition that supports inclusive design, specification flexibility, and long-term serviceability.

The TopClip system comprises a modular base and interchangeable top profiles, enabling a high degree of adaptability across a wide range of floor constructions and finish build-ups. Its flexible construction allows on-site curving to accommodate non-linear layouts, organic design forms, and complex architectural geometries without compromising performance or appearance.

Suitable for use in high-traffic areas, the system contributes to improved safety, visual coherence, and detailing quality at critical floor junctions.

Design intent

Designed to support architectural freedom and simplify specification, the TopClip flooring transition system enables consistent detailing across varied floor finishes and thicknesses, reducing the need for bespoke solutions while maintaining a high-quality architectural outcome.

The system is particularly suited to projects where multiple floor finishes meet, where curved transitions are required, or where future flexibility and adaptability are key design considerations.

Features and benefits

Flexible on-site forming

  • Profiles can be curved on site to a minimum radius of 750 mm, allowing seamless transitions around curves, columns, feature walls, and non-orthogonal layouts.
  • Eliminates the need for factory-formed or bespoke curved profiles, reducing lead times and cost while maintaining design intent.

Modular, multi-height system

  • Interchangeable design allows all top profiles to fit all base profiles.
  • Tops and bases can be combined to accommodate most common floorcovering thicknesses, including resilient, textile, timber, laminate, and other interior finishes.
  • Simplifies specification across mixed-use and multi-finish schemes, reducing the number of components required on site.

Architectural finish quality

  • Provides a clean, visually consistent junction between adjacent floor finishes, supporting high-quality interior detailing.
  • Minimises visual disruption at transitions while clearly defining material changes where required by the design.
  • Available in 24 standard colour options to coordinate with surrounding floor finishes or interior palettes.

Safety and accessibility

  • Creates a neat, flush transition that reduces trip hazards and supports inclusive design principles.
  • Independently slip tested by Grip Potential Ltd, providing verified performance data for specification confidence.
  • Suitable for use in commercial and public environments where safety underfoot is a key consideration.

Self-levelling performance

  • Self-levelling design accommodates minor subfloor irregularities, helping to maintain a consistent finished appearance even where tolerances vary.
  • Reduces the risk of lipping or uneven transitions caused by subfloor movement or installation variances.

Durability and lifecycle performance

  • Designed for long-term performance in high-traffic interior environments.
  • Robust construction ensures resistance to wear and impact at vulnerable junctions between floor finishes.
  • Modular system allows for replacement or adaptation of top profiles if floor finishes change during future refurbishments, supporting circular design and lifecycle value.

Quality assurance and certification

  • Manufactured under certified management systems:
    • ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
    • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
  • Provides assurance of consistent product quality, traceability, and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes.

Specification and installation

  • Suitable for installation in new-build and refurbishment projects.
  • Supplied in a range of standard stock lengths and pack sizes to suit differing project scales and installation requirements.
  • Installation guidance, dimensional data, and compatibility details available from manufacturer’s literature.

Applications

  • Commercial interiors
  • Education buildings
  • Healthcare environments
  • Residential developments
  • Hospitality and leisure spaces
  • Retail and public buildings

Particularly suitable where multiple floor finishes interface, curved layouts are present, or a flexible, future-proof transition solution is required.
