Description

Knauf Independent ‘I’ Stud (non-fire resistance performance systems) is a fully independent wall lining system that can be used in all building types to upgrade the acoustic and thermal performance of an existing masonry wall and to deal with any irregularities.

Due do the system using an Knauf ‘I’ Stud, there is no requirement for the lining system to be fixed back into the structure behind.

Framing

Knauf 50 'I' (0.55) at 600 mm centres to suit maximum height.
Head channel: Knauf 52 'U' Channel (0.55).
Floor channel: Knauf 52 'U' Channel (0.55).

Insulation

25 mm Knauf Insulation Acoustic Roll.

Linings

2 x 15 mm Knauf Soundshield Plus to room side.

Fasteners

Inner layer: 25 mm Knauf Drywall screws – Jackpoint self drilling.
Outer layer: 42 mm Knauf Drywall screws – Jackpoint self drilling.

Joint treatment

Horizontal joint: Knauf Flat Fixing Plate (to be applied behind outer layer plasterboard).

Finish

System must be taped and jointed using Knauf Joint Filler (Premium) or Knauf Joint Cement Premium and Knauf Joint Tape (Paper). Or alternative Knauf jointing compounds manufactured to EN 13963.
Knauf Wallboard Primer applied once taping and jointing completed.
Prior to where paint decoration is required. For preparation for decoration of where gypsum plaster skim is required, the outer layer of plasterboard joints is required to be taped and filled, using Knauf Joint Filler (Premium) and Knauf Joint Tape (Paper) meeting quality level 1 in accordance with Eurogypsum - Drywall Jointing & Finishing - Surface quality level classification.
For application where gypsum skim finish is required, the Knauf system is to be taped and filled using Knauf jointing compounds.
