Application

For use on architectural metalwork, external and internal, including aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, cast metals, galvanized and zinc-sprayed substrates.

Suitable for the following environments: Interior Dry (C1), Rural (C2), Urban (C3), Industrial (C4), Coastal (C5).

Typical applications include:

  • Architectural metalwork, balustrades and railings, balconies, feature steelwork, handrails, juliet balconies, cosmetic steelwork, staircases, facade cladding, architectural cast iron, gates, sculptures, public realm furniture, feature structural steel, curtain walling, canopies, planters, landscape edging.

Unlike Corten this range of rust-effect finishes can be used in an external environment without the risk of staining from rust runoff.

Description

Bradleys Oxide Range provides a superior aesthetic rust-effect finish with outstanding properties which will protect the substrate and retain a decorative, durable and corrosion-free finish.

This Range of rust-effect finishes provides the perfect maintenance-free alternative to Corten: a stunning authentic rusty steel-effect finish, whilst there is no risk of staining on adjacent surfaces. An ideal choice for architectural, landscaping and a range of external projects.

Features and benefits:

  • Improved aesthetics: it is a textured, authentic-looking oxidized steel-effect finish, with very low matt sheen levels, giving the appearance of actual rust. It provides instant historical value, with no need for an accelerated oxidisation salt-wash process or lost waiting time for natural oxidization compared to Corten.
  • Chemically stable: Oxide is chemically stable and totally inert, meaning there is no damage, weakening or physical corrosion of the substrate. It also means that from a design perspective, unlike Corten, what you see is what you get.
  • Sealed and stainproof: as Oxide is a sealed finish, there are no rusting or bleed issues, meaning no risk of staining clothing or outside paving areas - saving on costly cleaning and maintenance on surrounding elements.
  • Versatile application: unlike Corten, Oxide can be applied to a multitude of metal substrates, fabrications and section sizes, and there is no need for large minimum order quantities.
  • High performing finish: excellent for aesthetic architectural applications and well suited to high-traffic areas, both internal and external, due to its superior resistance to wear and tear. It offers long-term cosmetic and functional protection, assuring a long-lasting high performance finish.
  • Enhanced durability: It is easy to clean, durable, repairable and and low maintenance, with good resistance to scratches and marking.
  • Weather resistance: excellent weather resistance.
  • Pretreatment compatibility: Oxide is compatible with a variety of anti-corrosion pre-treatments including Bradleys Qualizinc Ultra-Life Arc Metal Spray.

Sustainability:

Oxide offers several environmental benefits within the parameters of ISO 14001 environmental management system:

  • Low VOC emissions: Oxide finishes emit minimal volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. VOCs contribute to air pollution and can harm human health.
  • Minimal waste generation: Oxide finishes minimize waste because they don't involve solvents.
  • Elimination of hazardous substances: Oxide finishes do not require hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
  • Enhanced durability: Oxide-finished surfaces are highly durable, reducing the need for frequent repair. Long-lasting finishes mean fewer resources used over time.
  • Promotes sustainability: Oxide-finished products are more sustainable due to their durability, reducing the demand for new raw materials.

In summary, Oxide aligns with sustainability goals by reducing environmental impact and promoting long-term resource conservation.
