Description

Siniat Suspended MF Ceilings are used to create ‘false ceilings’ which house services between the ceiling and soffit. The large voids created may also improve acoustic, fire, and thermal performance.

The system must be constructed solely with the proprietary products and components as supplied by Siniat. The system must be installed by a professional installer in accordance with: the Siniat Drywall Manual; this specification document; CAD drawings; advice; and all relevant and applicable construction standards and regulations.

System performance

All Siniat systems should be constructed to BS 8212:1995 and BS 8000-8:1994.

Guidance for specification option:

  • BS 8212:1995 - 'Code of practice for drylining and partitioning using gypsum plasterboard'.
  • BS 8000-8:1989 - 'Code of practice for plasterboard partitions and drylining.'

Insulation

Glass Mineral Wool.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Density (minimum): 10.5 kg/m³.
  • Thickness: 50 mm.

Linings

Inner Layer: 12.5 mm Siniat Fire Board.
Face Layer: 12.5 mm Siniat Fire Board.

Fasteners

25 mm Siniat Self Tapping Screws all at maximum 230 mm centres in the field of the board and 150 mm at cut edges and perimeter of the room.

Joint treatment

Decorative.

Guidance for specification option:

Siniat taping and jointing system using appropriate Siniat jointing materials and Siniat Paper Joint Tape.

Suspension hangers: MFC2330 Siniat Metal Angle hangers. Edge channels: MFCE26 Siniat Edge Channels. Primary channels MFCP44 Siniat Primary Channels. Ceiling channels: MFCC50 Siniat Ceiling Channels.

Guidance for specification option:

Suspension hangers:

At maximum 1200 mm centres.


Edge channels:

Fixed at maximum 600 mm centres to perimeter.


Primary channels:

Spaced at maximum 900 mm centres.


Ceiling channels: 

Spaced at maximum 450 mm centres.


Connecting fixings:

Use 12 mm Siniat Wafer Head Self Drilling Screws to connect Siniat Ceiling Channel to Siniat Primary Channel. Siniat Connecting Clips may be used in single-layer systems bearing no additional load.

Sealing (joints and penetrations)

Intumescent acoustic sealant.

Guidance for specification option:

Apply 6 mm continuous beads of Siniat Intumescent Acoustic Sealant around the perimeter of the framing or to the edge of outer layers of board, ensuring that all air-paths are sealed. 


All penetrations should use supporting constructions detailed in the Siniat Drywall Manual, in combination with appropriate fire-stopping products. For combined, warrantied performance specify Promat PROMASEAL fire-stopping products in accordance with PROMASEAL datasheets and guidance in this project pack.

  • Drywall screws conform to BS EN 14566.
