An Architect's Guide to Concealed Blinds
Grants Blinds
With large windows and glass doors, there is an increased need to control heat, light, glare and privacy using different solar shading products. When considered by the architects early in the project (RIBA stage 2-3), windows, shaped windows and skylights can be prepared for concealed blinds by specifying the necessary space and prepare with electrical wiring. In this CPD we go through different design options to avoid retrofit solar shading products.
By the end of the CPD you should have a greater understanding of:
- The benefits of preparing for concealed blinds as part of sustainable architecture
- How to specify solutions to control heat, light, glare, and privacy without impacting on the design
- Solutions for glass doors, windows, shaped windows, skylights, and other specialty situations
- Early project considerations to conceal blinds into building structure and where space might be needed
- Inspiration from seeing many projects with concealed blinds
