A significant regeneration project to enhance the heart of Laxey Village was substantially completed ahead of the 2015 TT Festival. The culmination of the work was marked on Saturday 23 May 2015 when a statue honouring those who worked in the Great Laxey Mine was unveiled in the Heritage Garden at Mines Road.

Leicester Square reopened to the public on Wednesday 23rd May 2012. London’s Mayor at the time, Boris Johnson, who officially re-opened the square, described the new Leicester Square as a “beacon for world premieres and stars of the silver screen.”
Liverpool Central Library

Austin Smith-Lord’s 50 million–pound Liverpool Central Library project opened in May 2013 after a three–year complete overhaul. The scheme, in a World Heritage Site, involved the restoration of grade I listed elements as well as the insertion of a new building behind a historic facade. It was funded by PFI. The six-storey new building is arranged around a full-height atrium crowned with a glazed dome and roof terrace.

Since it first opened back in October 2017, Liverpool Shopping Park has become one of the UK’s biggest retail and leisure destinations featuring fashion, food and recreation.
The retail park boasts particularly good connectivity, both locally and regionally, with approximately 1.8 million people living within a 30-minute drive. The yellow-panelled buildings, designed by AEW Architects, are home to several big brands, including Boots, H&M, Smyths, Outfit and JD Sports.

Marine Lake, Rhyl

Marine Lake, Rhyl is situated alongside the River Clwyd estuary easily accessible from Rhyl Harbour. Previously an area of marshland, Marine Lake is now the only saltwater lake in Wales.
Following the success of funding availability from Welsh Government in late Autumn 2015 a Senior Engineer at Denbighshire County Council designed and tendered the Project with the construction phase commencing in March 2016 with Alun Griffiths Contractors from Abergavenny. At the design stage DCC began discussions with Hardscape to explore materials to re-landscape the run-down highway area in and around the entrance to Marine Lake.
Maritime Streets, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria

This beautiful and inviting public realm has acted as a catalyst for the renewal of this neighbourhood in Barrow-in-Furness. The inspirational scheme won the award for Best Commercial Landscape Design at the Northern Design Awards in 2017 as well as winning the Adding Value Through Landscape award at the Landscape Institute Awards 2018 and it’s easy to see why.

Maths Institute, Oxford

Oxford University’s new Mathematical Institute facility, the Andrew Wiles Building, was officially opened in October 2013. The dedicated building is at the centre of the department’s and its students’ academic life. The building’s design and the stunning Penrose paving, by Rafael Viñoly Architects, is architecturally sympathetic to the Oxford skyline.
Menai Science Park, Anglesey

The £20million project, known as M-SParc, is a subsidiary of Bangor University and boasts labs, office space and business support to companies. Completed in February 2018, Menai Science Park in Anglesey is already making waves throughout the landscaping and architecture industry. The facility is officially Wales’ first dedicated science park, offering a staggering 31,200 square feet of lettable space which includes 45 offices, 23 laboratories and two double height workshops.
Military Square, Chatham, Kent

The vision for the Chatham Public Realm was to create an area with a strong sense of place, well connected, and easily accessed to be enjoyed by all. To achieve this, iconic features were used to form wayfinding and anchor points, as well as small scale landmarks within the town centre. This allowed users to feel safe and secure whilst visiting the town centre.
Moneypenny HQ, Wrexham

CW Studio, Manchester has designed the landscape for Moneypenny’s new £15million headquarters in Wrexham. The striking new building, designed by AEW Architects, is designed to accommodate over 1,000 staff. Set in a ten-acre landscape, it has its own ‘village pub’, a treehouse for meetings and dramatic views over meadows, orchard, woodland and the countryside beyond, all designed to create a happy, relaxing and inspirational setting for employees and visitors.

A public space overlooking Oban’s breath-taking bay has been transformed, establishing itself as a focal point for marine-based activity and welcoming point for maritime visitors and businesses. The investment in Oban is part of Argyll and Bute Council’s CHORD fund, a multi-million–pound initiative to rejuvenate the area’s waterfront towns.
Paul Street, Shoreditch

TPM Landscape, Manchester were appointed to design an enclosed courtyard space and two roof terraces for a new student residential development in Paul Street, Shoreditch, London. The courtyard is designed to offer an attractive and engaging outdoor environment for students to enjoy during the day and at night time. The roof terraces incorporate movable furniture to create flexible spaces, allowing students to enjoy views over the London skyline.

Project timelines can often take years of scoping and development and none the least was the effort and commitment taken by Hardscape with this particular project managing to secure the material supply to Peel Park Campus, University of Salford in 2010 following a visit to the Kellen manufacturer in Holland with the design team.
Portrush Public Realm

Public realm works to improve the streetscape in Portrush completed ahead of the 2019 Open Championship, held at Royal Portrush and was led by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in close collaboration with other statutory bodies that included the Department for Communities (DfC), Central Procurement Directorate (CPD) and DfI Roads.

The new Portrush Train Station was completed ahead of the 148th Open, Portrush, which was held in the town in July 2019. The event attracted around 190,000 visitors and offered a significant opportunity to sustainably develop the economy of Portrush town and the wider North Coast and brings substantial benefits to the area in terms of visitor numbers, spend and investment.
Preston Market

In February 2018 Preston’s much anticipated multi-million-pound market hall opened its doors to customers for the first time. The new facilities are housed underneath the restored Victorian Canopy, which dates to 1875, with huge glass walls creating an open atmosphere with plenty of routes in from the streets surrounding the central location. Outside the hall is the refurbished outdoor market space and Box Market shipping containers that are tall enough to walk inside. These containers are used by traders on the former Fish Market as a base from which to sell their goods.
Redcar & Cleveland Leisure Centre, Redcar

As part of a £31 million urban regeneration scheme, Hardscape helped to transform Redcar and Cleveland’s Leisure and Community Heart in North Yorkshire. Surrounding a popular leisure centre, the area is also home to civic facilities and a prestigious business centre which have an influential role within the town.
Redcar Seafront

Completed in April 2013, the redevelopment of the seafront at Redcar was undertaken by landscape architects and urban designers, Smeeden Foreman. As winners of a RIBA International Design Competition, they led a team of architects and engineers, in conjunction with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Environment Agency and Birse Civils Ltd, that brought to life an ambitious plan for this North Yorkshire seaside town.

The Queen has officially opened part of Dundee’s new £1billion waterfront during her visit to the city in July 2016. Her Majesty was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh when she visited Slessor Gardens, the public green space in the heart of the city. She unveiled a plaque and met the people who have been involved in the project.
Sovereign Square, Leeds

Sovereign Square is the first new public space to be developed in Leeds for over a decade and the first ever urban park in the area.
As part of the high-profile project, Hardscape worked with re-form landscape architecture, Leeds City Council and Eurovia Contracting Ltd to create a contemporary public space adorned with water features, greenery and seating areas surrounded by attractive paving and hard landscaping features.

Stane Park, Colchester

Construction of the new £12million Stane Leisure Park in Stanway has been completed. The Churchmanor Estates Company plc, the developer, started work on the scheme in March 2017 bringing at least 300 jobs to the area.
Station Quarter, Southampton

Station Quarter North, Southampton ‘Canal Shore’ is a 205m long bespoke basalt kerb detail with inset granite text, running along Blechynden Terrace that completed in September 2015.
Project Artist Christopher Tipping’s role was to create a contextual response to the site, which would exert a positive influence on the design process and outcomes, with an emphasis on the interpretation of the public realm.
Teesside University, Middlesbrough

The Bund, Media City, Salford

In May 2017, a golden, futuristic style building docked at the heart of Media City in Salford Quays. People in the surrounding areas were intrigued by the unusual and eye-catching structure of the new branch of ‘The Alchemist’ – a trendy bar and restaurant chain from Living Ventures, renowned for its unusual and extravagant cocktails.
Designing the surrounding landscaping to complement such an avant-garde building was a challenge. Hardscape reveals how it worked alongside Reid Architects and the Bolton-based construction company, Artez, to supply the best materials for this cutting-edge scheme.
The Glade of Light Memorial and Medieval Quarter, Manchester

Precision and attention to detail were the vital ingredients Hardscape and its sister company IP Surfaces brought to the project to create the Carrara marble Glade of Light memorial to the 22 people who died in a terrorist attack at Manchester Arena on 22 May 2017.
