Kinley

Handyside is a compact, contemporary space that comprises a children’s play area for families to enjoy. The pathways were created with curved plant and tree beds, defined with Perimeta HiGrade Bespoke organic shaped raised planters in CorTen steel. The landscape also called for a steel planter system that could accommodate varying heights. The Kinley team worked closely with Townshend Landscape Architects right from the concept stages of the ambitious design to engineer a planter system that created and enhanced the vision.

Kinley’s AluExcel 25mm and 65mm Flexible aluminium edging was provided to London’s largest Crossrail station.The edging features in a landscaped tropical roof garden sitting atop the six-storey station and leisure complex that extends below water level at the West India Quay.Beneath the 310-metre hood style roof is the garden, featuring a number of exotic plants. Landscape architecture firm Gillespies, which previously designed the sloping garden at 20 Fenchurch Street, was chosen to lead the project.

Sitting beneath the London Eye, Jubilee Gardens is a beautifully landscaped green area that includes a diverse range of planting, mature trees and an adventure playground.Borderline edging was used to edge the planting beds in unique and eye catching shapes, well suited to the surroundings. 

A stunning development where new landscape design harmonises with the old London wall ruins. Kinley HiGrade was used to create raised planter beds. The folded top edge and Corten finish add composition and contrast to the landscape design, and together with the carefully selected plants create a memorable and inviting environment where people can relax.  

 winning the British Association of Landscape Industries National Landscape Award for 'Soft Landscaping Construction (non-domestic) - over 500K'Kinley's Fort edging played a crucial role, providing durable and weather-resistant boundaries for the park's curved designs. It was used innovatively around the water feature and pathways, ensuring a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing look without the common issue of grass dieback, as no cementitious products were needed for installation.

Extensive edging was required for the courtyards to delineate hard and soft landscapes. During a site visit, BAM asked us to also supply planters, benches, tiles and accessories for the terraces. This required a full supply and install package. Two 80m walkways were lined with 1.2 x 0.6m Atria tiles. One walkway was built on top of extensive M&E pipework so a bespoke steel pipe cover system was needed to support the tiles. Atria beige tiles were also used on four of the terraces to surround CorTen steel Planterline bespoke planters with inset iroko timber seating.

Taylor's Corner one of Leeds’ most iconic city-center landmarks, and its refurbishment required contemporary design without detracting from the building’s original grandeur.With the main roof terrace supplied by Raaft, there was a design requirement for a curved seamless edge between the artificial grass and tiles, where ResinEdge 18mm came into it's own. 

Situated on the edge of a historic Northamptonshire market town, the Furlongs offers a choice of newly built two, three and four-bedroom homes with both beautiful countryside and excellent road connections nearby.The choice of Bison heavy duty steel kerb proved popular with the Hudmac team from the beginning. For a start, although it is stronger than concrete it weighs considerably less. This means it can be brought to site in larger quantities and on lighter capacity vehicles, while turning manual handling and installation into a safe, fast, one-man operation.This was the first time Nathan Rudd of Hudmac had used Bison edging, but he was more than impressed with the time saved both installing the edging and laying the tarmac, and with how much easier Bison is to use. His initial concerns about the thinness of Bison edging were quickly dispelled when he saw how strong it actually is, and how well it performed.

Tubs Hill is an £8 million residential apartment block development with communal gardens in Sevenoaks.Previously one of the tallest 1960s eight storey office blocks, when Tubs Hill was being converted into luxury one and two bedroom private apartments, Robert Myers Associates specified Kinley’s products as part of the design for the two unusual podium gardens.Urban edging (previously HiGrade) was used to accommodate the circular garden design. These incorporated curved edging and were designed to fit on an inverted roof build up construction. Made of CorTen steel, the bespoke planters can be formed to meet a range of design specifications, including size, height and shape. The two colour path was defined using AluExcel aluminium edging to separate the resin bound gravel.As well as the curved layout, the garden was to be created on top of a waterproofed roof. The planter edges were installed by Kingston Garden Services by bolting triangular support brackets into a 50mm layer of screed on top of the waterproofing.
