RAICO

At the heart of Hopkins Architects’ transformation, a 150 m² aluminium–glass roof designed with RAICO’s THERM+ A-I system spans the central atrium. The structure delivers clarity and daylight deep into the building, combining slender aesthetics with high thermal performance to match the project’s net-zero-carbon ambitions.

The Life Sciences Building at the University of Bristol isn’t just a research hub—it’s a place designed to connect people. With flowing aluminium forms wrapping cutting-edge labs, traditional Bath stone nodding to the past, and a bright atrium at its core, it blends old and new to spark curiosity and collaboration. A RAICO steel curtain wall with structural glazing keeps the whole thing light-filled and high-performance—just like the science happening inside.

RAICO teamed up with Grafton Architects and Deepdale Solutions Ltd on this six‑storey educational extension, completed in 2020 . The building’s façade employs RAICO’s THERM⁺ A‑V aluminium curtain‑wall system, marrying sleek design with modular efficiency . Inside and out, it breathes openness: generous glass panels reveal dynamic teaching spaces and invite natural light, cultivating an atmosphere that’s as welcoming as it is modern . Sustainability wasn’t just wallpaper—walls are built from recycled bricks, while green roofs and courtyard gardens weave a softer, environmentally minded thread through the architecture  .

Tucked away down Rivington Street in Shoreditch, The Black & White Building stands as a pioneering example of sustainable architecture in central London. The structure is framed by a RAICO timber curtain wall made of glued laminated timber (glulam), complementing the building's cross laminated timber (CLT) skeleton. This combination not only underscores the aesthetic and functional potential of mass timber but also exemplifies modern sustainable design. For Piercy & Company’s Clerkenwell landmark, RAICO supplied the THERM+ S-I steel façade system with SG2 structural glazing, seamlessly integrating with the building’s curved brick elevations and deep window reveals. The result pairs the tactile heft of masonry with a high-performance glass envelope—delivering thermal efficiency, slender sightlines, and a precise interface between crafted brickwork and transparent façade.

Nottingham University’s Centre for Sustainable Chemistry is no ordinary lab—this carbon-neutral facility redefines what scientific spaces can be. Designed with sustainability at its core, it pairs technical complexity with architectural clarity.Proudly featuring our THERM+ H-I Timber Curtain Wall, the facade blends spruce interiors with larch outer cappings, forming a warm, natural envelope that speaks to the building’s ecological ethos. Specialist requirements—like integrated blast louvres in lab areas—were seamlessly incorporated without disrupting the visual rhythm of the glazing.Elsewhere, timber-framed rooflights with built-in photovoltaics continue the story: a building that generates its own energy and sets a new benchmark for sustainable design in the UK.

In Heatherwick Studio’s kinetic greenhouse, ten 15 m “sepals” open like petals to form a crown under Sussex skies. RAICO’s THERM+ S-l steel system orchestrates the glass façades with mechanical precision and thermal reliability—every tilt, seal, and temperature shift is accounted for, achieving both movement and a tidy ~2.0 W/m²·K performance.
