PROJECT BACKGROUND:Work finished on a newly constructed, purpose-built audiology and ear, nose and throat (ENT) building at Kingston Hospital.The new, fully accessible modular building, named the Aspen Building, is located at the centre of the hospital site, and contains dedicated audiology consultation rooms, laboratory and acoustic booths, examination and procedure rooms, a dedicated voice therapy room.REQUIREMENT:Ramped access from both the fire exit door and the main entrance.Our steel ramp system was chosen over wood, which can ignite when exposed to fire. The Rapid Ramp system is made of fire-resistant galvanised steel.CAD DRAWINGS:In-house CAD drawings were generated using the technical drawings provided by the client for the project.Ramp A features custom-designed yellow return and secondary double handrails. Yellow, being highly reflective, is a particularly visible colour, which makes it beneficial for assisting individuals with visual impairments.Ramp B incorporates multiple turning platforms, skilfully navigates around an obstruction, and includes an access hatch to enable staff entry into the inspection chamber beneath. Additionally, Ramp B seamlessly integrates a fully compliant step system.END RESULT:Our in-house team handled the complete process of designing, manufacturing, and installing the ramp systems.Ramp A connects to the fire exit door and incorporates underside mesh.Ramp B was installed on top of concrete and provides access to the main entrance. It avoids a post, and extended-length tubes were used for cross-bracing to maintain stability across all platform legs.Solid Underside Hoarding was installed beneath Ramp B. It is often specified for schools and public buildings.Solid Underside Hoarding (Ramp B) - A weather-proof, aluminium front that will prevent litter, vermin, and public access.

REQUIREMENT:During the extensive construction activities, it was imperative to establish a temporary wheelchair-accessible route to an alternative entrance.The access system had to overcome the concrete steps effectively while adhering strictly to the requirements outlined in Parts K and M of the Building Regulations.

REQUIREMENT:Porters were experiencing difficulties manoeuvring hospital beds over the drainage gullies, which presented both a safety risk and an operational challenge.flat access solutions were required to span the gullies without impeding the effective flow of surface water into the drainage system.Our GRP walkway and ramps provided ideal, practical solutions, featuring fine drainage holes that allowed water to pass through—preventing puddles and reducing slip hazards. These installations effectively bridged the gullies, enhancing both safety and accessibility.With a loading capacity of 1,000 kg, they safely supported heavy daily footfall, as well as the movement of hospital equipment such as beds and trolleys, helping to maintain smooth and safe operations in this busy healthcare environment.DESIGN PHASE:Our in-house design team developed detailed 3D models and 2D plans to clearly illustrate the layout of the walkway and ramps, designed to fit around the canopies, which were scheduled for installation beforehand.Hatch sections over manholes and drains were incorporated into the walkway designs.These visualisations, provided alongside the contractor’s quotation, offered a clear and accurate preview of the proposed solutions prior to installation.INSTALLATION:Once the canopies were in place, our installation team proceeded to fit the walkway and ramps.The walkway extended from the hospital entrance to a turning point and continued to the entrance of the discharge lounge, covering a total length of 28 metres.The installation was successfully completed within two days.The surfaces were precisely cut on site to accommodate the canopy posts. PROJECT BACKGROUND: The construction of weighbridges and a weigh cabin.The cabin will be elevated 1.5m above ground level on support columns.Lorries will drive up to the cabin for initial checks before the weighbridges are used to calculate the load by weighing the lorry when empty and when loaded.REQUIREMENT:A walkway around the cabin in a L shape with steps to allow the site operatives access. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:2D and 3D CAD drawings were created by our designer in-house. These were given to the client with their quotation.END RESULT: A Rapid Ramp platform was raised around 1.5 metres high and included steps. The appropriate height was reached with adjustable telescopic legs. REQUIREMENT:The project involved upgrading an aging wooden ramp, which was no longer safe for use, to a compliant steel Rapid Ramp System.The new system was designed to have the strength necessary to support electrically operated wheelchairs, provide stability for users to reduce the risk of falls and slips, and include handrails that conformed to the specifications outlined in BS 6180:2011.DESIGN PHASE:Our in-house design team produced a detailed 3D model and 2D plan, providing the customer with comprehensive visualisations of the project. These were included with their quotation.INSTALLATION:Following the disassembly of the wooden ramp, our team completed the Rapid Ramp project in just two days during the summer holidays, ensuring it was ready on schedule for the new school year.By the end of the first day, the entire ramp installation was successfully finished, with the second day dedicated to evenly spreading the rubber crumb material across the walkway surface to enhance safety and comfort for all users.FEATURES INCLUDED:Looped Trombone Ends – Prevents clothes from snagging at the ends.Slip-resistant Mesh Platform - A multi-directional walkway with self-draining steel mesh and a galvanised finish.Anti-climbing Infill Handrail - Prevents users from climbing or falling through gaps.Continuous Handrail - Provides unbroken support for users to hold onto.Standard Colour: Black - Powder-coated black finish for greater durability than traditional paint.Adjustable Telescopic Legs - Adaptable to various threshold heights.Slip-Resistant Yellow Stair Nosings - Enhances visibility of system edges and level changes for users with impaired vision.Rest Platform - A rest platform is required at a height of 5 metres to provide users with a place to pause and regain their composure.The 1100mm High Handrail - The system is designed to attach to any level sections, offering additional safety and support.Underside Mesh Hoarding - This mesh is designed to prevent children from accessing the area beneath the ramp.Safetread Rubber Crumb Surface - This soft, slip-resistant surface offers excellent impact absorption, improving safety by reducing the risk of falls. Made from the same materials used in soft play areas, it is ideal for public spaces such as nurseries and schools. Available in a variety of colours, it maintains its performance in all weather conditions.

REQUIREMENT:Following the identification of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) issues in the school's Red Block, temporary modular classrooms were installed to maintain uninterrupted in-person learning during repair works.To support this setup, our modular steps were installed, providing safe and reliable temporary access to the classrooms.Just like the modular buildings, our solutions are fully reusable and easy to dismantle, making them ideal for future relocations.This flexibility sets them apart from traditional concrete or timber steps, which are typically single-use and lack the adaptability needed for evolving site requirements.DESIGN PHASE:During the site survey, a RapidScanner was used to digitally capture a comprehensive 3D map of the area, including all visible features such as buildings, changes in floor levels, and any obstacles.This advanced technology enables us to carry out surveys swiftly and accurately, even when working to tight deadlines.Once the data had been gathered, our in-house design team created a precise 3D model of the proposed systems, overlaid onto an accurate representation of the actual site.INSTALLATION:Once the modular buildings were positioned in the school’s front yard, we installed compliant modular step units along with a connecting walkway platform to ensure smooth and safe access between the two classroom blocks.The hire period for the units matched the lease duration of the buildings.
