Multi-Level Basement Beneath Listed BuildingsSUMMARYRASCOR is proud to support the Park Street redevelopment in Cambridge, a landmark mixed-use project by Marick Real Estate in partnership with Cambridge City Council and Staycity. Replacing a former council car park, the scheme includes a 229-room Wilde aparthotel, a triple-level basement car park, and public amenities such as a café, gym, and landscaped courtyard. RASCOR provided advanced waterproofing solutions for the com-plex basement construction, ensuring long-term performance and protection.THE PROJECTIn order to deliver a reliable, watertight solution for this project, RASCOR worked closely with Gilbert-Ash and Oliver Connell & Son ltd to provide a complete design, supply, installation and warranty in the triple basement. To achieve a Grade 3 basement / sub basement, required two types of waterproofing RASCOR used its RASCOtank Type B – structurally integral protection and Type A - External MembranesFor this project, we tasked our design team to come with the best waterproofing strategy to protect this presti-gious structure from water ingress.In this project ,we encountered a high water table level and significant temporary works. Secant piles were in-stalled around the perimeter of the site between the existing piles. The new triple basement and lower ground floor were constructed inside the piled walls on all sides lined with a water-excluding RASCOtank external type B system and propped at the ground floor and basement levels by the reinforced concrete construction.The Primary solution for waterproofing this structure was the RASCOtank system which are cast and set during concreting to control crack shrinkage and subsequent injected with acrylic grout which will guarantee preven-tion of any water ingress from entering the structure.For our Grade 3 areas, a secondary line of defence was achieved using Juta Titanbond Type A Waterproofing and Gas-proofing
