UZIN UTZ

The Almac Building in Northern Ireland needed a 2,400 m² storage area for flammable solvents to have an electrically conducting floor. This was necessary to ensure the materials' safe containment and help with explosion control. The floor had to be chemically resistant, support VNA forklift trucks, and meet specific electrical resistance standards. GMP Industrial Ltd. installed the floor using Arturo's static resin floor system, which included primers, repair mortars, and a self-smoothing floor. The project was complex due to the sensitivity of the area and the need for precise electrostatic control. The installation was completed in October 2022, with final approval granted in November 2022.

Crystal Palace FC's Training Ground & Academy required a distinctive entertainment space that would stand out from others. The design aimed for a blend of classic London style with a warmer interior feel that smoothly transitioned from the cooler exterior. To achieve this, the client selected a Signature Collection Unfinished Engineered Herringbone an engineered timber solution that offers versatility in tone and finish. The natural grain and knotting of the oak provided a subtle, authentic appearance. PALLMANN Magic Oil was therefore chosen to enhance the wood's texture and impart a warm, lived-in character while maintaining an overall refined aesthetic.Practicality was just as important as appearance for this busy and adaptable area. Ceramic tiled walkways needed to seamlessly meet the wood flooring in a cohesive and durable manner. To ensure a stable and long-lasting installation, the floor was fully bonded using PALLMANN P5 Adhesive over a carefully prepared subfloor. The substrate was primed with UZIN PE 360 Primer and then coated with UZIN NC 151 smoothing compound to provide a sound base for the wood floor. In areas requiring moisture protection, UZIN PE 404 moisture suppressant was used as a damp-proofing suppressant. This sequence created a robust foundation capable of supporting daily foot traffic, furniture movement, and cleaning routines without compromising the finish.The application of PALLMANN Magic Oil was straightforward and efficient. The product absorbed evenly into the oak, highlighting the herringbone pattern and enhancing the wood's natural warmth. The drying times were well-suited to the tight schedule of the training ground, allowing for a quick return to service and minimising disruption. The end result is a striking entertainment space that honours Crystal Palace's heritage aesthetic while providing a resilient, low-maintenance surface capable of handling the demands of an active academy environment.

Farrow Court is one of Ashford's older sheltered housing schemes. Planning permission was granted to redevelop the site to provide a new dementia-friendly facility comprising a much larger day centre for use by the local community as well as the residents of Farrow Court.Oxden Floors Limited were contracted by Bouygues UK to supply and install floor coverings to 33 flats and communal areas totalling 4000 square metres as part of the new build works of Phase 1. Due to design oversights, the main contractors were required to use a pumpable anhydrite screed on the first and second floors. A site survey by Oxden Floors Limited identified several issues with the screed. There was evidence of laitance on the anhydrite substrate surface and of damaged floor screed due to rain ingress and cracks. The flooring contractor also advised the client that moisture testing was required to determine the moisture content of the screed.With UZIN’s specialist range of products for remedial work and systems for calcium sulphate screeds Oxden Floors Limited approached UZIN to provide a recommendation. Jon submitted a written specification to enable the floor covering installation to proceed. Together with the site team it was agreed that the laitance needed to be removed and the damaged areas of screed repaired. This was undertaken by the flooring contractor prior to any further works taking place. Following the results of the moisture testing, which took place in each unit and different sections of the communal areas, Oxden Floors Limited applied 2 coats of UZIN PE 404, a coat of UZIN PE 280 topped with UZIN NC 150 for readings between 75 – 80% relative humidity (RH). For readings between 80 – 90% RH the flooring contractor applied 2 coats of UZIN PE 425, 2 coats UZIN PE 404, a coat of UZIN PE 280 and finished with UZIN NC 150 water mix smoothing compound. This provided a solid, sound, and high-quality base on which to commence the floor covering installation. UZIN 57 carpet adhesive and UZIN KE 2000 S pressure-sensitive were used to install the carpet and vinyl floor coverings, respectively. All products have been awarded an EC1 plus classification for being very low emission and ideal for use in sensitive environments such as sheltered housing.  Although the complications with the screed added a fair amount of additional work to a challenging 10-week programme, between the site operatives and Oxden Floors Limited, the overall handover date was not compromised. The final finish of the subfloor preparation was well received by all and ensured a quality finish for the carpet and vinyl installation with the use of UZIN adhesives. Due to the professional advice offered and quality of the works, Oxden Floors Limited have now secured the contract for Phase 2 of the project and an additional 6500 square metres

The floor's seamless nature and Basic White colour from the Arturo Colour Collection perfectly complement the home's interior, creating a sense of balance in the design.

PALLMANN is proud to have supported the restoration of the historic woodblock flooring at Hohenkammer Castle. Our goal was to preserve the building's original character while providing a durable and easy-to-maintain surface suitable for public use.At the start of the project, our team conducted a thorough inspection and moisture test to assess the condition of the woodblock flooring. This initial assessment informed our specifications for repairs, sanding, and finishing. Managing sanding dust extraction and employing appropriate edge-sanding techniques were essential to keep the site clean and safe during work in this heritage setting.The restoration process involved professional sanding to remove old coatings and even out wear patterns. Careful repairs of loose or damaged blocks and filling to create a smooth, stable base. These steps, common in parquet restoration and broader wood flooring projects, ensure that the surface is ready for sealing, priming, and the final lacquer finish that will protect the floor for years to come.For the final protection, the client chose our two-component, water-based lacquer, PALL-X 98. PALL-X 98 is a heavy-duty wood flooring lcauwuer that provides a long-lasting finish with excellent abrasion resistance and easy cleaning. Being water-based, it emits low VOCs, making it an appropriate choice for sensitive historic interiors where appearance and indoor air quality are essential. For Hohenkammer Castle, the client chose a low-shine option to preserve the floor's subtle, authentic look.The finished floor at Hohenkammer Castle retained its natural wood tones and historic appeal while improving scratch and wear resistance. Routine maintenance is straightforward and involves regular, gentle cleaning with recommended PALLMANN products to prolong the finish's life and preserve the woodblock flooring for future generations. 

The new 3,100 m² resin floor at the Honda Import Centre, installed by Resin Floors Telford, features a robust and seamless finish using Arturo's high-build resin coating. The installation process included extensive surface preparation and remedial repairs to allow an industrial top screed to be applied before two coats of Arturo EP3900 high-build coating compound were applied for durability and a gloss finish. The project resulted in a highly durable, aesthetically pleasing floor that exceeded client expectations.

The Metropolitan Police Workshop in Rainham, Essex, was built to maintain the police's vehicle fleet and needed a durable floor for heavy use. Resin Floors Telford installed Arturo's Heavy-Duty Resin Floor. This seamless, slip-resistant epoxy resin flooring system includes the Arturo EP2500 epoxy self-smoothing floor and EP3910 slip-resistant sealer. This resin flooring provided a robust solution for the 2000m² facility, supporting the maintenance of over 3500 vehicles. Arturo's quick installation system ensured minimal disruption and enhanced the workshop's functionality.

The Othmar Brewery in Ootmarsum, Netherlands, features an Arturo Quartz Resin Floor where the old copper kettles are located. The floors are chemical-resistant, slip-resistant, and easy to clean, meeting HACCP standards for food safety. The project included a mix of Arturo polyurethane and epoxy resin floors in the brewery, museum, and storage spaces. The project required flexibility and quick product manufacturing, resulting in a highly satisfactory outcome for all parties involved.

In 1939, the Pilatus Aircraft Works was founded in the Swiss town of Stans. Today, with affiliates in Switzerland, the USA, and Australia, the Pilatus Group is a global leader in the manufacture of single-engine turboprop aircraft.In June 2008, the company undertook upgrades at its headquarters in Stans, including the first renovation of the solid oak parquet in the hangar in 40 years. This upgrade required a sealing solution with maximum resistance to mechanical and chemical stresses the surface would endure. After various tests, the parquet specialists at Bourqui GmbH in Meggen, Switzerland, decided to use Pall-X 98, a two-component lacquer specifically designed for floors subject to heavy wear. The lacquer was applied over an area of 2,600 square metres.Surface Treatment Process:Sanding:Initially, the old solid oak parquet was sanded with a belt sander using 36-, 60-, and 80-grit sandpaper. The surface was then sanded with 100-grit sandpaper using a specially equipped Trio sanding machine. Following sanding, the floor was thoroughly cleaned.Priming:To prime the old floor, the solvent-based primer Allbase was selected due to oil contamination on the surface. The application technician from Uzin Tyro AG, in collaboration with Bourqui GmbH, decided to apply Allbase in two coats to ensure effective sealing. The drying time between applications was approximately 30 minutes.Sealing:Once the primed floor had dried for about 3 hours, the team began applying the PALLMANN Pall-X 98, a water-based, two-component lacquer. Given the extreme durability requirements, the lacquer was applied in three coats using a roller designed for water-based products. Application started along the edges, moving first across the grain and then with the grain. Each protective coat was allowed to dry overnight. Before the final coat, the surface was lightly sanded and cleaned with an industrial vacuum cleaner.The outcome of the work in the large hangar was impressive, showcasing strong load-bearing capacity alongside an appealing aesthetic, enhancing the workshop's visual appeal while meeting the demanding conditions of daily use.About Bourqui GmbH:Founded in 1960 near Lucerne, Bourqui GmbH specialises in installing exclusive parquet floors. Now in its second generation of management, the company employs four workers and primarily operates within Switzerland.

Rowheath Pavillion has been at the heart of the Bournville community since 1924. The Terrace Room has always been central to entertainment at Rowheath. In the past, it was used for work dinners and balls, with family entertainment at the weekends. Today, the Terrace Room is available to hire for events such as parties and weddings. As the Terrace Room is very popular, the client requested a robust floor finish due to it being booked most days of the week and at weekends for weddings.In the past, the onsite team buffed a lacquered wooden floor, which significantly degraded the finish. After Inner Space Flooring met with the client, they recommended PALLMANN Magic Oil for the job, as PALLMANN provides complementary cleaning and maintenance products that the onsite team can use once the job is completed. Once the flooring was completed, Inner Space Flooring conducted a training session with the team at Rowheath Pavillion to show them how to use the buffing machine with the correct pads and after-care products.To restore the beautiful herringbone flooring, Inner Space Flooring undertook several steps. First, they had to sand the wooden floor with a special sanding machine. They then vacuumed the area in preparation to fill in any gaps in the floor. Once the gaps were filled and fully dried, they repeated the sanding and vacuuming process. Finally, Inner Space Flooring applied the PALLMANN Magic Oil to the fresh wooden flooring. PALLMANN Magic Oil was chosen for this project as it is a 2-component oil that is also been awarded EC 1 certification for being totally solvent-free and meets the requirements for occupational health and safety. It was perfect for the client as the PALLMANN Magic Oil range has a full array of maintenance products. Inner Space Flooring also installed new entrance matting leading to the hall to protect the floor better. The project was completed in September 2023. The feedback from the client at Rowheath Pavillion has been nothing but positive and has exceeded their expectations for the end result. “Inner Space Flooring did a wonderful job restoring our tired-looking wooden floor. Sissons Barn is a purpose built oak framed wedding venue designed to look like an old forge barn, located in Peakirk near Peterborough. Covering over 200 square metres in the Cambridgeshire countryside, the beautiful venue was built as a prestigious setting for weddings and events. A new floor was required across all areas of the barn, which includes a stunning open-plan room for seating and a dance floor, as well as a bar, a comfortable lounge, toilets, and back-of-house areas. The main challenge was the floor screed, which was applied at 75-100 mm and required 3-4 months to dry. This was much longer than forecast, leaving a very short window for the new flooring to be installed, as the venue was needed in time for the peak wedding season. Another issue was that the entire front section of the large barn was made of oak and glass, so the floor needed a ripple-free finish.The flooring contractor, Superior Finish Contracts Ltd worked with the client to provide a solution to the main challenges. Superior Finish Contracts Ltd turned to UZIN because minimising risk was essential on such a prestigious project, which needed an excellent finish to match the striking surroundings. To help with underfoot comfort and improve acoustic insulation, loose lay luxury vinyl tiles were chosen by the client for use in the main open plan area and lounge. To provide extra security within the large space a tackifier was recommended to help prevent any potential movement of the loose lay luxury vinyl tiles. Some loose lay LVTs and tackifiers are not compatible which can cause plasticiser migration so Superior Finish Contracts Ltd consulted with UZIN regarding appropriate tests results to ensure the LVT and tackifier were suitable.After utilising UZIN’s support on other projects Superior Finish Contracts Ltd worked with UZIN to specify a suitable system which allowed the new floor coverings to be installed within the agreed time frame of 2 weeks. The UZIN system also enabled a flat, smooth surface to be created, which would cope with the future heavy footfall. Another bonus was that all the UZIN products used within the system had been awarded EC 1 plus certification for being totally solvent-free and meet the requirements for occupational health and safety. UZIN PE 360 PLUS multi-purpose primer was the first of UZIN’s premium quality products to be used and was applied over the screed within all of the areas to provide a strong bond between the screed and UZIN NC 163 smoothing compound. UZIN NC 163 was then used because it is a low-stress smoothing compound that produces an outstanding, flat, smooth surface. Superior Finish Contracts Ltd then applied a coat of UZIN U 2100 tackifier to the main open area and lounge before installing the loose-lay luxury vinyl tiles. Finally, capped and covered safety flooring was installed in the bar and the back of house areas using UZIN KE 2000 S pressure-sensitive adhesive.The client was very pleased with the new floor, which was finished to an exceptionally high standard. The flooring has also helped create a stunning venue, ideal for weddings and events. Several wedding receptions have been held at Sissons Barn and the floor has stood up to the demands placed upon it.

The Curzon Cinema in Oxford, part of the Westgate Shopping Complex, features a unique Arturo Performace Resin Floor in its bar area. Installed by 3D Royal Floors, the 271 m² floor combines aesthetic appeal with durability, essential for heavy foot traffic and furniture movement. The dark grey 'concrete look' created a unique and attractive floor. The seamless flooring enhances the venue's contemporary atmosphere, providing patrons with a stylish and comfortable environment.

The Tiefgarage Car Park in Tübingen, Germany, features a durable and economical Arturo Internal Car Park Resin Floor designed for wear resistance and slip-resistant properties. The underground car park, part of a new residential district in Lustnau, uses a 2.5 mm thick system on a 40 cm concrete floor. The floor is protected against thermal, mechanical, and chemical stress. The modern car park has clear, colour-coded markings and pedestrian zones, ensuring safe and accessible routes for users. The project was completed by Hans-Peter Hoch flooring company and designed by Rebmann Rettenmeier and Garcia Elzel architects, providing an economical solution without compromising on quality.
