Enabling and Accelerating the Construction of Data Centres

Enabling and Accelerating the Construction of Data Centres

Westgate Global Ltd

This CPD will allow delegates to discover how to enable and accelerate the construction of data centres during the Day 1 and Day 2 programme, using innovative methods to ensure weather and dust don’t stop programme progress and a temporary hot aisle containment testing for consistent and accurate results which leave no damage to finishes. It will look at traditional screening methods versus innovative systems, and understand the challenges faced when planning to envelope a building to ensure a tight weather seal, or to screen off clean areas for dust control during phased client handovers. It also covers how innovative screening solutions and systems can also be used from Day 2 onwards, e.g. to extend the data hall.We will discuss the ideal attributes of a screen system, the benefits of an engineered fabric screen, the legislation and certifications that may be required and time/cost savings on projects.  By the end of this CPD, delegates ought to:  Have an understanding of the pros and cons of traditional versus innovative screening systems. Know the challenges faced in externally screening data centre envelopes for weathering or for internal dust control phase separation.Know the ideal screening systems to use on data centre construction projects. Have an overview of legislation and certifications that may be required. Understand the benefits of using an engineered tensioned fabric screen and how it can accelerate the build program.

Optimising Space in Large Industrial Buildings

Optimising Space in Large Industrial Buildings

Westgate Global Ltd

This CPD will allow delegates to discover how to optimise space in large industrial buildings, when looking to divide a facilities existing area for efficiency and compliance. It will take a look at both traditional partitioning methods versus innovative modular systems, and understand the challenges faced when dividing up facilities with high rooflines and large footprints. Finally, in this CPD we will discuss the ideal attributes of a partitioning system (e.g., cost, health & safety, flexibility), the benefits of a tensioned fabric partition wall (e.g., aesthetics, sustainability etc) and the legislation and certifications that may be required.By the end of this CPD, delegates ought to:1. Have an understanding of the pros and cons of traditional versus innovative partitioning systems.2. Know the challenges faced in partitioning large industrial buildings due to their size.3. Know the ideal attributes of partitioning systems for use in large industrial spaces.4. Have an overview of legislation and certifications that may be required.5. Understand the benefits of using a tensioned fabric partition wall (e.g., protrusions, shape of building etc).

Overcoming the Risk of Critical Delays in Construction - Using Weathering Screens to Mitigate Impact on Critical Path Activities

Overcoming the Risk of Critical Delays in Construction - Using Weathering Screens to Mitigate Impact on Critical Path Activities

Westgate Global Ltd

Overcoming the Risk of Critical Delays in Construction - using weathering screens to mitigate impact on critical path activitiesA ‘critical delay’ in construction occurs when a project milestone or task is delayed to the point where it affects the overall project completion date. These delays typically impact critical path activities - tasks that directly influence the project's timeline.Critical delays in construction can have significant consequences for project completion. They can occur when a project's critical path is impacted, leading to an extended completion date, financial penalties, and potentially strained relationships with clients. Delays can stem from various factors including unforeseen site conditions and environmental factors such as inclement weather. To mitigate the impact of critical path activities it is imperative to identify potential risks and delays early on, proactively allocating resources and developing contingency plans. This CPD demonstrates how planning for weathering screens in the construction programme can de-risk and help overcome weathering challenges, avoiding the risk of critical delays and supporting the delivery of critical path activities in line with the construction programme’s defined timescales.Delegates will understand how to select the right type of safe and compliant weathering screen solutions for the type of works and environment. The CPD will look at comparing traditional screening methods versus innovative solutions. Finally, in this CPD we will discuss the ideal attributes of a screen system, the benefits of an engineered fabric screen and the legislation and certifications that may be required.  By the end of this CPD, delegates ought to: 1. Have an understanding of the pros and cons of traditional versus innovative screening systems. 2. Know the challenges faced in externally screening buildings to protect against inclement weather during construction.4. Have an overview of legislation and certifications that may be required. 5. Understand the benefits of weathering screens and how they can de-risk and accelerate the construction programme.

Temporary Works Segregation in Secure Facilities and Public Spaces

Temporary Works Segregation in Secure Facilities and Public Spaces

Westgate Global Ltd

Using hoarding in environments such as prisons, airports, hospitals and other buildings. This CPD demonstrates how to overcome the challenges faced when considering temporary segregation of works in secure facilities (prisons), and public spaces such as airports, hospitals, universities, and arenas. This CPD will direct delegates to understand how to select the right type of hoarding solution for the type of works and environment, using methods which ensure safety, security and compliance for both workers and the public. It will look at comparing traditional hoarding methods versus innovative solutions, and understand the challenges faced in high footfall and crowded environments when looking to segregate temporary works. We will discuss the ideal attributes of a hoarding system, the benefits of modern solutions, and uncover the legislation and certifications that may be required.By the end of this CPD, delegates ought to: Have an understanding of the pros and cons of traditional versus innovative hoarding systems. Know the challenges faced during temporary works segregation in secure facilities and public spaces.Know the ideal hoarding systems to use in crowded environments. Have an overview of legislation and certifications that may be required. Understand the benefits of using a modular hoarding solution and how it can improve project timings, cost and overall public experience.
