Application

Suitable for use in new build, conversion or refurbishment developments that have a beam and block structure with a minimum density of 260 kg/m².

The system can be used to reduce sound transmission in domestic dwellings – houses and apartments – as well as buildings used for education, hotels, care homes, offices and hospitals.

Any building constructed using concrete separating floors may benefit from this system providing the floor and ceiling can both be treated.

The building types most suitable for this system are:

  • Domestic (houses and apartments/ flats)
  • Healthcare and hospitals
  • Hotels
  • Care homes
  • Schools, colleges and universities
  • Student accommodation buildings
  • Commercial offices

Description

The Hush Acoustics HD1015 Hush Batten system is designed to improve sound insulation in separating floors and ceilings constructed using a beam and block.

It utilises Hush Acoustics’ high quality insulation materials to create a fully tested system that achieves performance requirements in excess of the Building Regulations minimum standards.

HD1015 is ideal for refurbishment and conversion projects falling under Material Change of Use. It brings together the Hush Felt 10 Resilient Layer, Hush Seal 20 and Hush Slab 100 sound absorbers in one easy to specify and use system.

The system can be applied to floors with a beam and block structure with a minimum density of 260 kg/m2, with a design that creates service voids above and below the floor structure to deliver its excellent acoustic performance.

It complies with the requirements of Approved Document E (England & Wales), Part G (Northern Ireland) and Section 5 (Scotland).

How the HD1015 Hush Batten 55 system is created:

  • Hush Battens which are loose laid at required centres over a layer of Hush Felt 10 Resilient Layer.
  • Tongue and groove chipboard/plywood, to suit batten centres and loadings, is laid over the Hush Battens using Hush Bond and screw fixings, with all perimeters sealed using the Hush Seal 20 perimeter strip.
  • Hush MF system is installed to the underside of the beam and block structure. The Hush MF ceiling creates a 150mm void from the underside of the beams to the back of the plasterboard lining.
  • Hush Slab 100 Sound Absorber is installed tightly together within the ceiling void.
  • Two layers of plasterboard are attached to the underside of the Hush MF ceiling. The plasterboard lining should be 19mm Plasterboard Plank and 12.5mm Soundbloc.

Acoustic Performance *

Impact (L’nT,w) - 50 dB

Airborne (DnT,w) - 54 dB

Airborne (DnT,w + Ctr) - 51 dB

* Results based on all Hush components being used for the Hush System HD1015. System also requires correct density of beam and block and flanking wall issues need to be addressed.
