Application

Twin metal stud wall acoustic insulation system, suitable for use in new build, conversion and refurbishment developments.

Description

The HD1052 Twin Metal Stud Wall Acoustic System provides an ideal solution to provide effective sound insulation in a lightweight separating stud wall created using twin metal studs. By creating a clear void for sound absorber panels to be installed, the system is effective an reducing the transmission of airborne sounds between rooms.

It combines several high quality acoustic products manufactured by Hush Acoustics, and is tested to be fully compliant with all the UK Building Regulations covering England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Features and benefits:

  • Can be used in new build, conversion and refurbishment developments.
  • Building Regulations Approved Document E (England & Wales), Technical Handbook Section 5 (Scotland) and Technical Handbook G (Northern Ireland) compliant.
  • A tried and tested method of creating a separating lightweight stud wall.
  • Excellent acoustic performance due to the clear void between the two stud frames.

How HD1052 is formed:

  • Two frames of 70mm metal stud and track are constructed in the usual way, isolated from the floor and ceiling structure using Hush Heavy Duty Isolation Tape.
  • Ensure a minimum 50mm clear gap is provided between the two stud frames, which should remain clear.
  • Insulate the spaces within each stud frame using Hush Slab 75 Sound Absorber. This should be installed within the stud frames only and not the clear air gap between the stud frames.
  • Face each stud frame with two layers of 15mm Soundbloc plasterboards.
  • Seal the perimeters of the plasterboards using Hush Acoustic Sealant.

Acoustic Performance*

Airborne (DnT,w) - 63 dB

Airborne (DnT,w + Ctr) - 60 dB

* Results based on all Hush materials listed in the Hush System HD1052 datasheet being used. Results are also based on correct installation and all flanking paths being treated.

Product benefits
