Application

For use in warm flat roofs under bituminous torch-on waterproofing systems.

Description

Powerdeck® U is a high performance rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam board for use in warm flat roofs under bituminous torch-on waterproofing systems. It is faced with a bitumen glass fleece on both sides.


Roof drainage

To ensure adequate drainage the roof should have a minimum finished fall of 1:80. This may mean designing for twice the minimum finished fall to account for building inaccuracies, roof deflection and building settlement. Powerdeck® U boards are also available for tapered insulation schemes.


Thermal bridging

With increasing levels of insulation it is important to ensure the continuity of insulation at the junction of elements.


Wind uplift

The wind uplift force exerted on the roof will vary according to geographical location, site location and building height. Reference should be made to BS 6229 for adequate bonding of the vapour control layer to the deck. Calculations relating to the bonding of the insulation and any supplementary fixings should be made with reference to BS 6399.

Guidance for specification option:

The following system achieved a classification of BROOF(t4) in accordance with BS EN 13501-5 : 2005 and so is unrestricted by the national Building Regulations: an adhesively fixed system comprising an 18 mm plywood deck, a 2.0 mm polyester-reinforced foil IKO Systems SA VCL, a 150 mm thick insulation board, a torched-on SBS Standard Underlayer finished with a torched-on SBS Goldseal T/O cap sheet.

Thermal conductivity (maximum)

0.024 W/mK (≥120 mm), 0.025 W/mK (80 – 119 mm), 0.026 W/mK (≤79 mm).

Compressive strength at 10% deformation

Exceeds 150 kPa at yield.

Guidance for specification option:

Suitable for loads associated with maintenance traffic. For heavier traffic, extra precautions should be taken (consult the waterproofing manufacturer for appropriate details). Care must be taken to avoid damage to boards by impact or concentrated loads during installation.
