Elevating Co-Working Environments with soft architectural products for British Land

OVERVIEW

British Land, one of the UK’s largest property development and investment companies, is committed to creating and managing spaces that evolve with the changing needs of those who work, visit, or live in and around them.

To support this mission, British Land collaborated with the expert design team at Thirdway to create a versatile, work-ready space for their co-working sub-brand, Storey. Located throughout London in key city locations, Storey provides flexible, modern office spaces tailored to meet the needs of a dynamic workforce.

In collaboration with Thirdway, Acoufelt custom-designed a bespoke Framework ceiling grid as a focal point of the space. Made from Acoufelt’s signature FilaSorb™ acoustic felt, the grid features 12mm rafts arranged in 700mm squares with elegantly curved corners. Suspended above a key focus area, it integrates seamlessly with the lighting fixtures, adding a sleek, modern touch. The grid, finished in the ‘Umber’ colorway, was chosen to complement the neutral palette of the surrounding furniture. Beyond its visual appeal, the ceiling grid significantly enhances the room’s acoustics, creating an environment where productivity can thrive.

Thirdway also chose Acoufelt’s QuietForm™ pressed acoustic panels for both wall and ceiling installations in key meeting spaces. Featuring the ‘Celestial’ pattern with its soft, curved pillar design, these panels were selected in ‘Pistachio,’ ‘Walnut,’ ‘Umber,’ and ‘Ivory’ colorways to maintain the earthy, neutral palette of the overall design. In the main meeting room, QuietFormTM was installed on the ceiling, serving as a focal point that draws the eye into the space while effectively mitigating excess noise during large meetings. This design is echoed in smaller meeting rooms, where the panels are used as wall installations behind AV equipment or as standalone acoustic features.

In line with British Land’s commitment to sustainability, the materials used in this project were selected with environmental responsibility in mind. Acoufelt’s signature material, FilaSorb™, used in these designs, is made from over 60% recycled PET and is manufactured with 40% renewable energy.

The result is a co-working environment that meets the high standards of British Land and the Storey brand. The space is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and high-quality materials in creating a workplace that supports both the functional needs and well-being of its users. The integration of Acoufelt’s bespoke acoustic solutions has not only improved the acoustics within the space but has also added a layer of sophistication and sustainability, making Storey a desirable destination for modern professionals.
