Acoustic baffles integrated with LED lighting for feature ceiling at One Avenue’s new London office

Acoustic baffles integrated with LED lighting for feature ceiling at One Avenue’s new London office

Acoufelt

One Avenue offer bespoke serviced office spaces for businesses, currently boasting six locations across London. Their serviced offices are an alternative to a fixed lease, with guaranteed exceptional hospitality, a dedicated team of service personnel and a beautiful, unique fit out.For their latest development ‘Farringdon’ situated in the heart of London’s booming new business district at St Johns Lane, One Avenue were looking to create a welcoming and sociable environment with world-class facilities. While previously One Avenue buildings have been themed more traditionally, the vision for Farringdon was to create something more ‘fresh and quirky’ to match the up-and-coming location.Engaging Fausto Rinaldi from F&R Studio for the design of the Farringdon office, Acoufelt were brought into the project to help develop a custom ceiling solution for the focal lounge and breakout space, including a kitchenette, bar, and casual seating area. Spanning approximately 70 sqm2, Fausto was looking to incorporate a feature ceiling system that would provide both acoustic benefits and mood lighting to fill the deep ceiling recesses above the lounge space.Working under a tight 60-day turnaround for design, manufacture and install, Fausto and Acoufelt teamed up to fashion a series of curved and intersecting Acoustic Ceiling Baffles that would ultimately achieve a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.75. Slotting into the concrete coffers of the ceiling, the subtle ‘Slate’ grey baffles would complement the bold hues of the LED lighting while also acting to absorb sound and reduce echo within the open space.Delivered and installed to the timeframe, the project was handed over, and Farringdon’s new occupants were welcomed into the space in late 2022. The clever integration of LED lighting and acoustic baffles within the feature ceiling of the breakout space will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all who visit.Designer: F&R StudioLocation: St Johns Lane, London, EnglandPhotographer: Jonathan SzymanskiProduct: Acoustic Ceiling Baffles | Bespoke Design | ‘Slate’ Colorway

Propelled by an ambitious growth strategy, both retaining and attracting new talent through attractive and functional interior design remained important. For the Appian office, as interpreted by Resonate Interiors, this meant maximising daylight and the beautiful city views, whilst accommodating a mix of working arrangements including open-plan desks, quiet work settings, formal meeting spaces, phone rooms and breakout areas, executed with an overarching ‘resi-mercial’ feel.  Naturally, quality of lighting and acoustics became driving factor for this project, with Resonate Interiors opting to cover roughly 30% of office walls with acoustic products. Selected for their strong sound absorption capability and unique textured pattern, Acoufelt’s custom Fracture ‘Fineline’ panels in color ‘Denim’ were installed on reception and boardroom walls, providing a cool contrast to the feature wood-grid ceiling, and yellow and orange furnishings. The vertical, parallel lines also add an element of depth to the space, whilst also acting to absorb excess sound and reduce noise reverberation.  With ‘Treading Lightly’ being a core company value, Resonate Interiors are driven by sustainable design principles concerning indoor air quality, waste reduction, durability, and energy efficiency, and are also committed to sourcing 75% of products within a 100-mile radius of any project. A brand synonymous with innovation and cutting-edge design, Adobe’s brief for the refurbishment of their headquarters in London’s White Collar Factory building was to balance playfulness with functionality and sustainability. In collaboration with the international architecture and design firm Gensler, Adobe pushed creative boundaries to bring their imaginative vision to life. For this project, Gensler chose Acoufelt’s acoustic wall products, specifically the Fracture Two-Tone wall panels, to serve as both functional and aesthetic elements throughout the office. These panels, featuring a bespoke arch pattern, were strategically installed in the quiet focus rooms and behind the AV setup in the open auditorium, contributing to a seamless design flow. To add a playful touch, Gensler selected vibrant color combinations of ‘Pearl’ and ‘Peach,’ as well as ‘Iris’ and ‘Midnight.’ The dynamic curves of the arches were further enhanced by soft furnishings and warm lighting, creating inviting and comfortable workspaces. Gensler also selected QuietPrint™ acoustic wall panels featuring custom artwork designed by Adobe. The artwork showcases a distinctive dual-tone gradient print in purple and pink hues. These panels were positioned in semi-enclosed meeting booths and the open auditorium, playfully complementing the Fracture Two-Tone panels in coordinating tones. Transforming Tradition: Acoufelt’s bold colors redefine the Leonardo student accommodation in Leeds

Acoufelt

The Leonardo project, located opposite Millennium Square in Leeds, is a distinctive Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) development that skillfully blends historical and modern design. This complex consists of a Grade II Listed Victorian schoolhouse and a newly constructed building, linked by a central courtyard. Design firm 74 was tasked with unifying both structures while maintaining their unique identities.Working closely with the client, Generation Partners & Ares, 74 developed a design language that honors the schoolhouse’s historical significance while embracing the sleek, modern aesthetic of the new build. The contemporary design of the new building features bold, rich colours and a dynamic material palette, reflecting the energy and vibrancy of student life. In contrast, the Victorian schoolhouse retains its classic elegance, offering a timeless and refined atmosphere that complements its heritage. For the new build, 74 utilized Acoufelt acoustic panels in the rich ‘Currant’ colourway, which is used as the primary tone throughout the interior. Central to this scheme are the bespoke lighting installations featuring Acoufelt Filasorb™ ‘Currant’ acoustic panels. These panels, set in an oblong shape encased in a golden frame, provide a visual contrast against the wooden tones of the desks and dividers. Strategically placed over co-working and entertainment spaces, they assist in reducing noise, creating a pleasant soundscape for students to study and connect. In the main atrium, which features a glass ceiling, 74 chose Fracture Panels in the ‘Trellis’ pattern and matching ‘Currant’ colourway to frame the top and bottom of the windows. These panels create cohesive lines of the main colourway throughout the space, seamlessly tying together the various design elements. The interplay of light through the glass ceiling enhances the bold, rich tones and bevelled cut patterns creating a dynamic visual contrast that elevates the overall aesthetic. Each product is crafted from Acoufelt’s signature FilaSorb™ acoustic felt, offering a robust suite of sustainability credentials. Made from 60% recycled PET and produced using 40% renewable energy, the materials are also Declare Red List-free, third-party verified, and manufactured in Britain. At the end of their lifecycle, the products are fully recyclable, closing the loop on sustainability and reinforcing their eco-friendly impact.Overall, the Leonardo project showcases how thoughtful design can blend historic and contemporary elements.
